There are still schools, banks and other places using an older version Windows-Windows 7 or even Windows XP.

@nattukaran certainly in the case of banks, where those situations occur, they pay for extended support.

@kev Banks pay for extended support?Isn't it better for them to just update the OS.I think it's a waste of money.

@nattukaran actually it isn’t. If there are hundreds of thousands of systems to update, it takes time. Plus, if you’re running critical infrastructure, like a bank, the upgrade process needs to be well defined and as error free as possible. That all takes time, so extended support is often required.

@kev @nattukaran I'm aware of companies still running old OSes, but I wonder where this will end. Some day there might be an unavoidable reason where an upgrade becomes necessary. I wonder what that reason might be and how banks etc. will deal with it then.

@nattukaran @kev Sure. But I think the question is: What will be a good enough reason to upgrade, for companies that are reluctant to migrate?

@floppy @kev imo companies are not reluctant to update the OS, they are just lazy to do it.

@nattukaran saying a company is too lazy to upgrade is naive and inaccurate for the most part. In my experience at least.@floppy they do upgrade, it just take a long time to get through so many devices. So while that’s happening they pay for extended support.

@kev @nattukaran @floppy yes, this is correct. i have seen companies upgrading in phases. i mean i personally seen same bank using Windows 7 or lower in remote areas of the country and higher versions in urban areas especially. In some cases, the upgrade is actually the waste of money.

@kev @floppy Ok😁 But still I am pretty sure there are companies or individuals using an old version without paying for extended support.
