Once you use pacman, it’s hard going back to any other package manager

@metalune well, I should’ve mentioned that with the AUR, it has access to so much software as well as always working well

@andrewkdinh humm.. I guess, so it's really just the AUR you're talking about then, huh?

@metalune @andrewkdinh the build system as a whole to be honest. makepkg is great and simple. I had the pleasure to look at the abomination debian calls a packaging system, it's a horrid mess.

@metalune @andrewkdinh @reto void has made their package manager with inspiration from packman from what I've understood, packman is quite great, and one of the reasons why I stay on arch, using the aur to download and make a package, and then installing it with packman having it suck in all the dependencies is quite nice. The AuR is made with gentoos portage and the BSD ports tree as an inspiration, so it's all good people getting inspired by each other :) standing on the shoulders of giants.

@metalune @andrewkdinh @reto If we are talking about the KISS Linux packagemanager kiss, then I would say, that kiss is superior.Packaging something is super easy, it is super minimal with a lot of features, parallel downloading is just a few lines of a patch away, I think some of the user even do that, and it is super hackable and easy to understand in generell.
