@strawberryfieldsforever @MisterB qemu can be compared to virtualbox when paired with somthing like libvirt/virt-manager, this way it can run OS in an isolation But qemu paiered other parts can also do something that virtualbox cannot - emulating different architectures

@strawberryfieldsforever I've used QEMU very successfully to document a secondary operating system.I'm usually using Kubuntu but used a virtual QEMU install to do screen captures and verify the information written for this beginners guide:http://runeman.org/intro20-04/index.html@peter

@peter In the thread, I've only seen your single comment about needing more than "just" qemu.I also use Virtual machine manager, of course. I don't remember what other things might have also been useful dependencies. @strawberryfieldsforever

@Algot @strawberryfieldsforever I have written about qemu too, it is a fascinating piece of softwarehttps://peterbabic.dev/blog/how-not-create-node-executable-arm/https://peterbabic.dev/blog/how-run-latest-node-emulated-revpi/https://peterbabic.dev/blog/how-emulate-raspios-natively-qemu/https://peterbabic.dev/blog/cross-package-node-app-arm-qemu-docker

@Algot @strawberryfieldsforever Thank you! Would you mind a question? Is there any feedback from the users in the Natick community target group? I am asking because I feel like everyone is trying to focus education on the young and younger, while teaching elders some computer literacy is probably as important as ever

@peter The writing has had group reaction along the way. Some have appreciated it, though typically the group is far more computer literate than the target audience. The group has provided a computer running Ubunutu Linux to the community/senior center where the group has met during years before the pandemic. In the past year we have been meeting using Jitsi Meet. Please consider joining us.http://millermicro.com/FOSSUserGroupArchive.html#UpcomingFOSSMeeting@strawberryfieldsforever

@peter I occasionally take a look at other operating systems, from a point of general interest. Not what I would call "active'.I have not emulated ARM software to this point, but that sounds like an interesting idea to test RPi ideas. As I mentioned, I'm not (yet) really into the RPi, though I have done a couple of simple trial activities.@strawberryfieldsforever
