For many years, Firefox had a memory leak that caused it to slowly eat up all the RAM in my computer. I fixed it by not using Firefox anymore.

@verretor I'll look into Midori, given considerations of changing mobile browsers again.

@verretor I've never had a very informed opinion about brave, but always distrusted it.You might want to stick with Brave anyway but a user over fosstodon.org made a very in-depth post worth reading about its telemetry: https://ebin.city/~werwolf/posts/brave-is-shit/

@uku One thing that I don't like about Brave is that they're shitcoiners but that's better than Firefox that's straight out totalitarian.https://twitter.com/mozilla/status/1347633954497548289

@verretor Yeah, I also read that non-sense Mozilla came up with after the storming of the US Capitol...I know there's good reasons not to trust or support them. I'd admit I still use vanilla Firefox but I just refuse to use anything chrome-based.

@uku Brave is Chromium-based which is open source. I'm not worried about it.

@verretor It's not about not being FOSS, I know it is.It's about having more than 70% of browser market share. https://www.w3counter.com/globalstats.php?year=2021&month=5That gives them too much influence over web standards, as devs prioritize compatibility with the subset of features of the dominant browser.FLOC is a good example of Google exploiting their dominance in the browser space. https://amifloced.org/Theoretically anyone could fork Chromium, but keeping up with them would be very difficult.

@verretor people should always be able to pick whatever browser they want, of course.

@uku That's not just Brave's fault. Qt has chromium-based browser support but not Gecko. I don't know about GTK.
