@LostInCalifornia why am i not surprised that a proponent of the faith-based gender identity theory considers opposition to be spiritual warfare?

@BitterFleabane @sansa Hastily written, whiny self- justification at a minimum.Should have taken a machete to her words rather than try to summon a machete army against more successful writers.

@MandyJane @BitterFleabane @sansa Certainly trying to. Friend of mine called this phenomenon a “wolf show”. Eventually, someone is gonna want to see the wolf.

@LostInCalifornia @BitterFleabane @sansa Oh, I love that! One good thing that has come of all this, I have enjoyed lots of Nigerian humor. The replies to this are great https://twitter.com/LGBTfdn/status/1405559049203163137?s=20

@MandyJane @LostInCalifornia @BitterFleabane @sansa I think it's really annoying that they are trying to divert this to being about Adiche's 'transphobia'. I don't know where they have been but she's been open about her views on gender for years. My interpretation of the essay was that it was mainly about these people who denounce her when it advantages them to do so, while simultaneously profiting from her name and association. The trans thing was mainly just a bit of context to that. But making this all about comments made four years ago is probably a convenient way to distract from the very poor behaviour on their part described in the piece.

@Eggster @BitterFleabane @LostInCalifornia @sansa Yes! It's so annoying that they lie about everything. Anyone who really read the essay can see that it is not transphobic. They try to make any criticism or anger aimed at a person who identifies as trans is transphobia.

@MandyJane @Eggster @BitterFleabane @LostInCalifornia @sansa The more cognitive dissonance, the more gaslighting you accept, the more woke you are. A spiral of mass psychosis to end of civilizations.

@polarisera @MandyJane @BitterFleabane @Eggster @sansa Or just an intellectually flaccid attempt to rewrite reality.

@LostInCalifornia 7 books in 4 years? Almost in the Barbara Cartland class! Just as strong on women’s rights.

@AnneBevan @LostInCalifornia I tried reading one of her books once. My great aunt was a fan and used to save them for me. They were bloody awful - like a parody of themselves.

@Debbie_TriptychTwins @AnneBevan It was my sister who loved those.I read that she decided to write those because she didn’t want to work 9 to 5. Only thing about her I find admirable.

@LostInCalifornia clears throat and readies oneself for a cheap shotFor a supposedly professional author, she seems to have a peculiar understanding of how capital letters work. I’ve for a long time now maintained that as drawing is about looking, so is writing about thinking. Judging by that standard and based on this missive, her writing must not be particularly impressive.

@Gnomeshatecheese Also, for a supposedly professional author, she seems to have a peculiar understanding of how people judge whether or not an author is good. She hasn’t published anything for 8 years!! I have 5 books right now!! One good book can take years. Bad books can take weeks.

@LostInCalifornia I thought of going for the quantity-over-quality dig, but figured that I already had two decent ones and three might be excessive.

@Gnomeshatecheese Sometimes cheap fiction is a good read, and sometimes good fiction is written fast, but someone posted a portrait of Barbara Cartland earlier, so…Her grammar is off, too. She dropped a word or two, but I tend to do that when my dyslexia is up, so I went with the quantity dig.

@LostInCalifornia I did try to read it properly for correctness, but I couldn’t get past the irritation of her not capitalising sentence-initial words. Seriously, that convention isn’t just an affectation, it genuinely makes reading easier.

@Gnomeshatecheese Not capitalizing is affected and pretentious from a professional writer. I admit to dropping capital sometimes, but only in short pieces, and only when too lazy to pay attention to the keyboard.IMO, it's hastily written in a state of emotion, probably anger, which blocks clear thinking. If she's able to achieve clear thinking necessary for good writing, this letter doesn't show it.

@LostInCalifornia True, it’s definitely a vogue practice. (I would’ve said vogue punctuation to mirror “vogue words”, but I don’t think capitalisation counts as punctuation. )
