@cum Maybe, but I think it has more to do with how adults infantilise even the actions of infants themselves, as ironic as it sounds. We make out most things kids go through as nothing because "children have it easy" and you hear adults depicting this often by saying things like "kids don't have real problems" but, like how no one mentally is going to interpret violence as "discipline" when being spanked, neither will children see their activities the way adults that watch them might. For kids, their actions are very serious and everything they do matters to them as they're engaged in it. Our society does not respect that and make little of the activities children do, want to do and talk about. In a great part, said communication is not even possible because most preoccupy themselves with just getting kids to obey rather than listen and negotiate with them if any conflicts of interests arise.

@sandminerva Where I shared this from, someone also mentioned this. It stems, fundamentally, from feminist theory of victimisation from which it is the patriarchy that "grants" power to the male oppressors. By this analogy, women can only ever be victims. This is the same reason that, even though now it is being recognised, female abusers are mostly under the radar and the same for female representation with a paedophilic sexual orientation.

@nahotakamiya yeah, i hate the infantilization of youth. if you dumb everything down to them, you're giving a distorted view of the world to a being that is trying as hard as it can to interpret every possible stimulus. adults tend not to remember their childhood very well, so they struggle to understand this

@cum Most people shouldn't even be parents, children should absolutely ALWAYS have a say in their own guardianship and adopting kids should be made easier, as well as allowing kids to become as independents as they're capable of. @cum Then they also wonder why kids "are vulnerable" to us. But in reality, most that do come in touch with actual paedophiles, not abusers who take advantage of them, end up becoming more independent and empowered. But I don't want that, I like helping kids, but I hate that they would need to come to me just to become who they want to be. I want them to live in a society where they can pursue that by themselves, not them having to rely on the luck of finding an adult who happens to support them.

@nahotakamiya the choice is the key. a child should have the choice to live independently, or with someone there to guide them. parents who are good shouldn't have to worry about their kids leaving them, since if the child actually respects their parents they'll want to keep them in their life
