I replaced the Fedora on this laptop with Ubuntu 20.04. I'd forgotten what a ball-ache it is to get to how you like it.Am I missing something? Do we really have to run through two update/install procedures now for packages?$ sudo apt-get install leafpad "Go away, baldy! We've no idea what you're on about!" Jump on Google, and you have to use snap for that now. WTF?How is that efficient? And does Mrs Miggins know that? (Oh, and I know the likes of Fedora uses snap now.)

@dick_turpin mm Fedora favours Flatpak. Base Fedora also has packages like debootstrap and apt / dpkg, it doesn't mean they are the recommended way.Snap remains a Canonical thing.

@hopeless I know. My point is. We used to have one point of management for installing, removing and updating. Now you have to use two maybe three tools to keep your system up to date. What cretin thought that was a good idea? #LeSigh

@dick_turpin the whole snap thing is why i recently canned the latest ubuntu off a laptop, mixing packaging isn't a good idea IMO

@dekkzz78 TBH (And this is pathetic) I switched the laptop to Ubuntu because you can only get qsync client for Ubuntu or Debian and this last year I've been working with my Qnap every single day and it was a ball-ache Fedora not syncing. #shrug

@dekkzz78 If I were a "Tearing it down" kinda guy, I'd be tempted of accusing Ubuntu of falling apart after having lost its way.

@dick_turpin I refuse to use snap, appimage or flatpak.Too much baggage and who needs more than one package manager?Download Deb and use gdebi to install.
