I just don't see how it counts as scripture.One of the worst things about the Bible is that it's bloated with so much crap that no one needs to read. Especially the New Testament, the core narrative of which is actually quite brief.

@MisterRogersSnapped@kiwifarms.cc Like the Old Testament is longer, but it has a lot more to say. The premise of Christianity in the New Testament is a lot shorter and sweeter and I think Luke-Acts and John more than covers the idea. It's almost like they added a ton of filler because they thought it was too easy.

@admin The books in the New Testament were written pretty far apart timewise and gathered into one compilation way after they were written.You are right, the Gospels are the important part.Be careful with Acts - that way lies Pentecostals.

Obey the authorities when it doesn't touch on your Christian faith or morality. With the understanding that nothing happens on Earth unless God allows it, the assumption is that the government is allowed to continue for a reason, so trust in the divine plan and let it play out.The unspoken part is that the two shouldn't come into conflict that often. Of course, shortly after Jesus' death, the two frequently came into conflict as the government tried to mandate who you could worship, and the people who literally heard Jesus' words defied their government frequently on those grounds.If Jesus was alive today, and some pissant governor told him he couldn't hold a church service, he'd be striking SWAT cops blind and turning vaccines into wine.
