My final year of teaching was 2018-2019. I taught 7th grade science that term. Our illustrious district contracted the county health department to teach the sex-Ed stuff. @KellyS this is pretty advanced stuff for a 14 year old. A really rural district, take a week off for harvest rural, had to have a general parent meeting because anal was so popular for that exact reason.I kissed a girl for the first time in 7th grade and thought I was a stud. @MartinDeLaToot Young women are so terrified of heterosexual sexual encounters thanks to stuff like this (and porn) that an increasing number of them are identifying as lesbians or being identified as trans. Meanwhile young men are aggressively shamed for being men to the extent that they're opting out of sexual relationships entirely. Sexual encounters between young people in general are down across the board. If you were a conspiracy theorist you might say that this all seems very intentional.

I took it expecting a deep look into drives, urges, instinct etc. What I got instead was a professor who wanted the students to write as many nicknames for penis and vagina on the board. Its like we are stuck in middle school, giggling about it. Dropped it.

But I really think it is grooming in the teen years or just younger that plays a major role in why women are jaded about sex, relationships and males, many of them have had bad experiences and don't have the skills to heal the abuse done to them. Especially from older males who should be leaving them alone. Perhaps this fraction lash out at all males but it is incels that end up impacted more from the messaging rather than the men who abused women where it should be aimed at.

@progo @MartinDeLaToot I disagree with the last line. If it's normal in porn, and porn is bad, then wouldn't having that as a kink, a huge red flag that someone is a porn addict? Porn addiction should be shamed--at least the stigma should be candid and for the purpose of encouraging rehab--why not shame the "kink?" It just seems that were it not for porn acceptance, the prevalence of it (in sex ed classes, in relationship-centered forums) would be drastically reduced.

@sim @MartinDeLaToot I'm not sure if grooming is the reason high school kids aren't dating, that's not to say that grooming isn't a serious problem. I think there's something at play at the cultural level, it's almost impossible not to notice the blatant anti straight white male propaganda in media, the portrayal of masculinity as "toxic", fathers being exorcised from the home, positive male rolemodels being virtually non-existent. Young men don't know how to conduct themselves because there's nobody to set a good example for them, either that or they're completely blackpilled on relationships, meanwhile young women are trained to see men as predators waiting to spray DNA in their faces and shove things up their orifices. It's a very sad state of affairs.

@SADIDAS I think that our country is really bad about these things. I do sincerely think that a lot of women have gotten into bad relationships and too many of them have been groomed from a young age. I think that is why they are jaded. They see men as predators because that is their experience. You often have to learn the hard way about that. Likewise with men, they are jaded because so many of them have been abused by women. You only have to listen to the men that hate women to know that. Although this probably goes back to what you were saying and it has always been a problem that the poor and vulnerable are exploited and groomed in these ways. There is a breakdown in the family, it has always been there but now we're either more aware of how bad things are or something has made those family breakdowns worse. Perhaps having more single parent households doesn't help, perhaps higher divorce rates.

@sim Although I understand the arguments and I'm sympathetic to people who've had bad experiences the blackpilling on both sides really bothers me, I think it's nihilistic and it sets people on a path that leads to a dead end. You can't avoid pain, even in the best possible scenario your partner might get sick or maybe die and it's going to hurt, I don't think avoiding relationships because it *might* end badly is a good enough reason to swear off them entirely and, even worse, to encourage other people to do the same. Even in the worst case scenario a bad breakup can teach you something about yourself and how to bounce back and make better decisions next time.

Which is why we need better support for people who have these experience, to give them the toolkit that they need to recognise when it happens, to be heard and to heal from the abuse done to them. Without that, they end up lashing out. May even create more victims in a cycle that repeats itself. The lashing out may become abuse itself.
