       @ramob @cos It's not as bad as it could be because IRC servers are little more than TCP hubs. Recreating an IRC channel on another server is really easy.

       @cos IRC is a descentralised protocol but mostly of open sources channels are on Freenode, which is the most similar to be centralize. This is why I think what mastodon.social did in order to be the most federated as possible was valuable. I think IRC is not centralised but it's not federated either.

       @jrballesteros05 correct - IRC is centralized to few networks even if the servers federate inside the network. Matrix is truly decentralized so it's immune to problems like this. But IRC is one of the good guys, hopefully it can still be used in future by those who want to.
