Since Google is a US-based company it's so that if you try to distribute your app over Google Play and have selected that this app contains news content they'll instantly push out your app and ask for more information about your app that you don't have since you may host news content, but your app isn't strictly a news app. This got me a lot of apps and app updates denied. I'm tired of this Google madness and rather bite into the posined Apple than playing the game Google tries to play on me. Nowadays it's not about choosing a phone, it's now choosing between two bads.

@koyu There's also Linux operating systems with phones like the Pinephone. I hear you can also use GrapheneOS with Google Pixel phones. Or you can just bite the bullet and use a "dumb" phone with KaiOS or something similar.

@KMemzy that's exactly my problem. i use google services a lot and i can't break ties with them, because their services (except if you're a developer) "just work". i tried using a so-called "dumb phone" and i even tried using a linux phone. i will always go back to android, because everything is well-integrated with everything i personally use. that's why i'd choose apple over google, not because they're very privacy-friendly, but because i'm concerned that after the f-droid play protect issue and numerous instances of ignoring open-source developers i kinda see myself forced to flee to apple's camp.

@koyu Ahh, I see. Well, it's definitely not better. You have to jump through hoops to even install apps not in the App Store, and you don't even have full access to that App Store because of region-locking.

@KMemzy i know that, but that's better than having almost every app on my phone marked as potential malware.

@koyuI see it the same way. Not sure whether I should go iPhone or android. I'm kind of tired of constantly battling with google on my android phone.
