ThreadIsn't it amazing how leftists pretend that a person's individual degeneracy is some kind of deep philosophical statement?I just heard about and watched a review of Saló, or the 120 Days of Sodom (1975), directed by Pier Paolo Pasolini. It's been called the sickest film ever made.

Personally, I found the review too tedious and boring to finish.Pasolini was a gay communist who kept going after underage boys. One of them finally murdered him on November 2, 1975.His 17-year-old murderer beat him hard enough to break several bones, crushed his testicles, rasn him over several times, and set his body on fire with gasoline. That level of overkill indicated rage and hatred. The movie is about how everything is garbage.

Four ricvh men kidnap underage boys and girls and rape and murder them in a mansion. The end.All shown in graphic detail. They used chocolate and crumbled cookies to make faker poo-poo that the rich men forced the kids to eat.Basically, the movie was simply Pasolini's opportunity to put all his own depravities onscreen and pass them off as allegorical social commentary.A communist who claimed to hate authoritarianism. How does THAT work?

One thing I've learned is that leftists have absolutely no imagination. What they pass off as horror is for blockheads.Yes, violence and sexual assault are horrible, but when you show it all in graphic detail in movies, it instantly loses its power. This is why people have become addicted to REAL gore.Tons of Websites are devoted to it.Guess what? You get inured to it.THEN what? This is why I was positive that we were going to start having regular troll mass shootings.

So far only the Christchurch, New Zealand mass shooting and an aborted one in the US are the only ones on record.I now think the Norwegian mass shooting of 2011 was the first such crime. The murderer's "manifesto" struck me as very odd, but it was only after the cruder copycat crime in Christchurch that I realized what the issue was.If the Norwegian mass shooting was just trolling, that explains the hideous self-portraits and fake uniforms.

The fact that we haven't had more satirical mass shootings isa good sign.It means people still have values. They still have brakes.Mass shooters are all identical. Only the Norwegian and the Australian who did Christchurch don't fit the mold. All other mass shooters are deadly serious. They want the world to pay for THEIR loserdom.Well, your life is what you make it.Yes, horrible things happen in life. But your job is to not let it break you.

If you follow the career of Jimmy Stewart, you'll notice that after World War II, he began making darker and darker movies. This is because he had such terrible PTSD that he had to be taken off combat duty.He was a bomber pilot.Stewart channeled his despair into his movie roles. The ones he made in the fifties were brutal.See, individual temperament is crucial. Several other stars saw combat and came through relatively well.

@ThomasWic Norwegians are odd. I know you know this. I lived on the island of Hitra for a year as an English teacher in 2007. Beautiful country, incredible water.... horrible policies... crazy rules. When I took my “adopted family” grandmother to her physician appointment one tine- the doctor came in and smiled while she told her she had cancer. I can’t describe Norwegians any more clearly than that. I am not surprised he was an odd case.

Charles Bronson was a B-29 tail gunner who got shot to pieces.Jack Palance served in a bomber. So did Clark Gable, Walter Matthau, and Charleton Heston. But Jimmy Stewart's temperament made him susceptible to PTSD, to the point that it truly ruined his life.I have no patience for wealthy leftists telling me that everything is garbage.THEY'RE garbage. All the actors I mentioned above havea combined body of work that far outweighs Pasolini's exploration of poo-poo.

If I want to see an art film, I'll rewatch A Very Long Engagement, one of my favorite films. And even though it's about the horrors and crimes of World War One, it's one of the most inspiring films ever made.Everything IS NOT garbage.Only certain PEOPLE are garbage. And they can choose to stop at any moment. They almost never do.Sucks to be them.END

@ThomasWic One of my favorite films is Harvey. (1950) It's pretty dark in a way, and it's an adaptation of a stage play that Stewart also performed. The movie is a bit more light-hearted than the play. I hadn't thought of the PTSD aspect of his career before.

@Nobody07 @ThomasWic P2 was not a real Masonic Lodge. Imagine a Masonic Lodge headed by a Bishop running with the minions of the Vatican Bank.As far as killing Pasolini for publishing anything about P2...that is plainly ridiculous. That degenerate was killed by a wronged lover. If the Cosa Nostrand had gotten to him they'd still be looking for a body.

@ThomasWic That, in my opinion, is the dumbest movie ever created. It was made for shock, to make people uncomfortable. I watched the Italian version, I couldn't find one with English subtitles but after 20 minutes, enough was enough.

@ThomasWic And they can choose to stop at any moment... the key point. Everyone has the ability to control their reactions. It takes some will power and training, but too many people have been dealt terrible hands and don’t turn into monsters NOT to see that it is doable.

@ThomasWic Had to look up the movie.Imagine my non surprise to see it was loosely based off 1 of the Marquis de Sade's books. I was surprised the book was that old though. I usually associate that kind of frankness to modern literature. No wonder they threw him in a asylum.

@ThomasWic Hubby and I just saw a film in the theater called "Nobody." I wasn't expecting much, but it was fun! (typical John Wicks style violence but no gratuitous killing) And there were some surprises that made us laugh loudly. Total fantasy, but satisfying in my opinion. There also was an underlying theme that the "garbage" could choose to stop at any moment.

I'm not so sure I could handle it myself, and I'd rather not find out.And there's so much I could say about Leftists and how creatively bankrupt they are, to match how morally bankrupt they are already.

@ThomasWic just watched A Very Long Engagement- a movie to evoke hope. Wonderful to have a movie where the agenda was love but where the horror of war scars and Injures is a real result. My uncle, Sgt. Kenneth Hefta, died as he was marched into North Korea. He knew he was dying & gave his rations to others- some lived & told my GrandMa his story. He was the best of men- left a gaping hole in his huge family, Especially for my father (2 yrs younger). Dad still misses him.Thank you.
