Reading this thing and I'm just chef's kissing at the Machiavellian beauty of how they did this. Legislative and budgetary functions are "jointly" given to two things, the European Parliament, and the Council of Ministers. the European Parliament's powers do not exist and are purely for show (formal meaning), whereas the actual real legislation is drafted by 'the Council' whose members are selected from ministerial positions (real meaning). this "joint" function is the fudge whereby there is a front facing parliament they can say make laws, and a back-end full of appointed guys where things actually get done.

They can't force everyone suddenly to love the EU and abandoned their own original country, that wouldn't work.They have to wait for the last generation to passe away, add something new about the EU in teaching course progressively that way each new generation have more and more tolerance to the EU until they have a generation completely dedicated to it, a generation who has forgot and put aside their original lands/country.Plus all the usual propaganda that comes out of the commission.It's just a question of time.
