@Ladyfat Saying that you’re not going to get into “the wars” after explicitly commenting negatively on someone’s approach is a bit hypocritical. But in general I’m tired of this. Both Stock and Bindel have valuable things to say, but especially Bindel seems to like spending her time firing cheap shots at people who are largely on the same side as her. I have no problem with Stock thinking and saying that she finds the approach of some (women) unhelpful. I don’t necessarily agree with her, but that viewpoint is something I want to be able to hear. What I don’t like is saying it and then passive-aggressively sniping on twitter about it, thus adding fire to this infighting. If she and Bindel really think certain people’s approach is “unhelpful”, they ought to be able to also recognise when they are being “unhelpful”. There are bigger fish to fry. Spending time and energy on fighting against those who are more or less on the same side, is not keeping eyes on the goal. (sidenote: I thought naming Julia Long in the book as a bad example was a bit uncouth, plus a bad idea writing wise, as it will likely make the book age less well. She would’ve been better off not doing it.)

@Ladyfat I don’t really personally care about snide remarks or criticisms on approaches of others, the former just make me roll my eyes and latter I’m interested to hearing, even if I eventually disagree (except when it’s silly, then I roll my eyes at that too). However, I think infighting is one of the biggest threats to the efforts to fight genderism. As such, I take it very seriously.

But having an anonymous group with no spokesperson means that if any govt in UK wanted to discuss the issues there is no-one to discuss it with. And a group with no structure, somebody is deciding what articles to publish, what points to take, how to word things etc. All it means is no transparency. I have the same issue with other 'groups'. And yes, I know most of that is to avoid losing jobs and getting abused - which in itself is an indication of the problem and scale of the problem, but without organised structure, accountable aims etc... None of these groups can be seen as more than someone's pet peeve. I don't know how to fix that, but having a public aim (repeal the GRA here) with no intent as to how to achieve it doesn't sit right.I hope things move forward and they are able to register as a membership organisation with some sort of constitution and process for making it. Same applies to every other women's group that has had to spring up recently.

I remember reading Stock's tweets years ago in the GC community on Twitter. She felt back then like she had already made up her mind about how to feel to it.
