2) I had just come off getting my head bashed in by anti-vaxx missionaries after sharing that I had gotten my first COVID vax. The absolute nuttery and relentless argumentation weighed heavily on me and saddened me. I had to block people for the first time since coming here in January 2019.

3) I noticed that I had bought into a narrative about DJT that clearly was mistaken. That raised a newfound cynicism born of sadness and a loss of hope for the America I thought possible. I felt that this was the tipping point and last stand for US leadership in a listless world of apathetic Marxist drivel that will eventually brain-bash and bully enough people into buying into a global government system. I believe we have crossed the Rubicon here. DJT was out last hope.

4) I noticed that we had developed a cult of hope around DJT driven by TW narratives that led to a SuperTrump trope. Clearly that was misguided. Once we started conjuring devolution and other such asinine (in my view) positions that someone Trump would save our bacon. 5) I noticed my messages of sorrow and skepticism increasingly resulted in cynical and caustic posts. I realized that I needed to rethink my unhealthy relationship with a political world I could no longer seriously play a role in. I could not understand how anyone could allege that we would take it back at the ballot box in 2022. That is the most absurd premise I’ve ever heard. If an election was so blatantly stolen, that is not politics as usual, it is the end of the republic. Undebateable.

7) So I decided to go back to reading rather than writing. I’ve tried to keep connected. I’ve been really struggling with some autoimmune health issues post-vax that have kept me down. I can’t determine correlation as I had quite a few dings on the chassis after a 12-year football career, but I do have osteo and rheumatoid arthritis and I’ve definitely had a post vax flare. It’s made sleeping hard so I’ve been basically getting up, going to work, and coming home to bed to try to cobble sleep.

8) I also had a post divorce relationship suddenly go south right around Thanksgiving which forced me to move for the fourth time in a year. I started to explore new relationship opportunities and reconnected with my first love, who had recently divorced as well. I’ve been investing much more into that relationship than I have QVS. I didn’t want to bring folks here down, but I was once accused of a “hopium” overdose around DJT... which was true. I don’t want to bring anyone down so I post less.

I too disagree with a lot that I read on QV, but I try to sidestep the loaded topics altogether. Most times I just keep my thoughts to myself on most of the especially hot button ones. You do not need to have your thoughts validated, but it is good to know that others are thinking similarly. My pastor says chew up the meat of the sermon, and spit out the bones. It works.

@EarlThePearls Earl I’m fine with intellectually stimulating discussion. The ones I tend to steer away from are ones where there are two defined sides and there is no gray area. I tend to operate more in the gray area in that I have what I think is a strong curiosity. My curiosity makes me receptive to intriguing ideas. Staying away from topics like the Covid mRNA vaccines seems prudent for me. I have an opinion on these that doesn’t fit either side of the debate.

@MMA @MadBeachBimbo I too had a similar experience when I suggested that jurors could not put prejudice, bias, sympathy aside - the "Golden Question" jurors are asked in open court before every jury selection. I guess some would be able to put those aside if HRC, Epstein, Weinstein, John Brennan, Eric Holder were on trial. And liberals would put aside the same if Trump were on trial. I applaud their ability. I still believe mirror neurons prevent jurors from doing so before deliberation.

@MegasAlexandros True. People are not going to their doctors for the shot. My Mom got hers at the local mall where she lives. Her doctor had no role in the decision or the process. She's a retired Air Force officer who traveled extensively overseas and is therefore trained to follow government orders and procedures regarding vaccines. Pharmacists received the ability for standing order immunizations nearly 25 years ago. @SomeLadyInVirginia We have satellite too. We stream lots of series, movies etc but it only goes so far before we eat up all the date on the WiFi box. We live rural and don't have cable for that unlimited situation. We stopped news after the election but have gradually gone back to it. It's like a drug addiction that's hard to break.

@SomeLadyInVirginia We used the little Verizon hot spot for a couple of yrs then switched to ATT and got their WIFI box for our Air BandB. When we rented the apt out full time, I brought the box into our house. It gives connections to my desktop and the TV for streaming. Its not unlimited tho.
