@theotheroracle most of the people that complain about pleroma are mindlessly virtue signalling, just download some memes, pop some popcorn, and heckle at them while they pander to their echo chambers

@TransGal4872 the term virtue-signalling is kinda a red flag to me though . it’s basically saying that like, this person does not have morals, and they do things simply for “ethical clout” and,,, that seems like a reductionist view of the way i’ve seen people accused of virtue signaling act . as well as virtue signalling often just being used to dissmiss criticism .to be clear, i’m still not sure how i feel about that matter, also a bit afraid of being immediately written off once i “pick a side” . whilst on one hand i do agree that you can’t judge someone just based on what software they use, and to do so is equally as reductionist . but otoh, if there is a correlation, it’s not just entirely worth dismissing, should be something to look into imo .i’ve heard a lot of the pleroma devs can be pretty toxic, and from what i’ve seen that’s not entirely a fabrication . and if that was the case, it wouldn’t be too surprising that their userbase would skew one direction or the other . but i haven’t looked too much into it personally, so i’m not really educated enough on the matter to make a claim one way or the other on that either .

@theotheroracle well, that's one side of the story. I've been around long enough to be adjacent (and now in the center of) quite a bit of the mastodon v pleroma stuff, and there's definately a lot of echochamber issues with the mastodon groups that go around cancelling anyone they disagree with. it kind of ties into woke-ism, where media dictates the way that things are supposed to be, and if you question it or try to examine it, you immediately get tossed aside; even when there are issues in the framework that everyone simply glosses over.most of the time, when a mastodon instance is attacking a pleroma instance, you really need to examine what's being said, because there's rarely much truth in the allegations.
