@Seccour Is your node down? You are showing as offline for the last couple of days.

@Full_node @lizard I'm getting a lot of issues with this node out of the two I have. Keep going down for some reason.I will try to fix it either tomorrow or Friday.Restarted it for now, not sure how long it will stay online

@Seccour @lizard Raspi with SD card? If mine goes down once the card needs to be re-flashed. If not re-flashed it goes down daily. Its been up for a month after the last re-flash. Could be a possible cause.

@Seccour @lizard No just the SD card. SSD remembers all the data so once you re-flash your back up and running without worry of lightning channel or wallet setup. I forget if you need to set entry password or not.

@Seccour @lizard Have to credit @drgo for that one. He also suggested getting the root drive off of the SD card and onto the SSD. The SD cards corrupt easily. Have not yet figured out how to do this but knowing when the node goes unresponsive a re-flash always fixes it for a few weeks.

@Full_node @Seccour @lizard do you have this link: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLoF4_lt35vblmnoEnLnb54mzI_zpleU7EWill walk you through booting off SD card. Of note, raspberry pi’s are not trustable compared to ordinary computers as you must run proprietary code to boot the machine up. A malicious company could theoretically steal any coins the machine controls.

@Full_node @Seccour @lizard it’s not so much a vulnerability as it is their design choice. They won’t release the source code (whoever they is, not certain it’s raspberry pi folks). So think of it more as running code on Amazon cloud instance moreso than your own computer.

@drgo @Seccour @lizard So its an OS issue, there must be other options to run in its place.*Searches*Looks like another rabbit hole to mehttps://www.fossmint.com/operating-systems-for-raspberry-pi/ Might run the pi on Ubuntu then.

@Full_node @Seccour @lizard I don’t believe it is really an OS issue. It’s a bootstrapping issue. Cant boot without binary supplied by manufacturer.

@drgo @Seccour @lizard I see why this is a issue then. Half way into building another node too.

@Full_node @Seccour @lizard this is why I went the rock64pro route. Harder but no binaries for booting.

@drgo @Full_node @Seccour I think I've outgrown my Pi so I'll be looking at RISC architecture going forward. I can't find the name of it now but a fully open source hardware board was recently released. This is the way.

@drgo @orionwl @Full_node @Seccour I think it may have been this. I remember that you had to apply due to limited supplies. Not sure it's 100% open source hardware though.https://www.seeedstudio.com/blog/2021/01/13/meet-beaglev-the-first-affordable-risc-v-single-board-computer-designed-to-run-linux/

@orionwl @drgo @Full_node @Seccour Looks like it won't be widely available until next year.So I should be able to run #Bitcoin related software even if binaries for RISC don't exist correct? I would just have to build the software from source myself.

@lizard @drgo @Full_node @Seccour bitcoin core binaries for 64-bit RISC-V have been available since 0.18.0, there are also various linux distros for it (debian, fedora, w/ lots of pre-built packages), but yea you might have to build some things from source
