I have an android phone because of my job, it's a Xiaomi and I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy one. I believe GAFAM is disgusting when we talk about privacy violation but they are little kids comparing with Chinese companies. I have seen many things that make me untrust about any Chinese company. I have been using mobian on my pinephone for a couple of weeks and despite the random crashs and battery draining it works pretty well.

@jrballesteros05 Xiaomi have the cheapest phones which you can unlock and install AOSP. Just dont't use stock ROM. (Its true for other phones too)

@deepspace It's the job phone so I cannot flash or root or something like that because it isn't mine. At the moment my personal phone is the pinephone. It does not work as I want but when I leave the job I will think about it. Maybe the pinephone get enough mature or maybe I need to check options like fairphone. I know that some apps like the banks one don't work if they realise the phone is rooted.

@danslerush My DNS filter at the moment is the pihole. I guess I need to work more on it because sometimes it does not block properly.

@jrballesteros05 Sure, Pi-Hole needs a little bit of setup :troll: But, back to a mobile use, it was crazy how many times per minute I had access to Yandex, Meizu, Alibaba, Baidu, Google.ru, etc.

@jrballesteros05 Right... I do have one, but what I like with their phones is the ability to flash it to install custom roms... Huawei blocks it...

@jrballesteros05 Oh even without apps, the core system is from that "talky" kind 😅 I am much more serene with a smartphone LineageOS and F-Droid alone

@jrballesteros05 The battery drain is the big thing keeping me from using my Pinephone as a daily driver. There are other issues but I can work around them.

@PublicNuisance Agree. I normally can live with other bugs and/or issues but the battery drain is the one which keeps me back.
