It’s very fucked up that people disappear or even ‘die mysteriously’ in countries like #Russia when you have a critical view on mr Putin himself for example.. He’s nothing more than a mad dictator like Kim and Xi Jinping.I HATE dictators. Fuck you Putin and fuck you Xi Jinping

@stux I hate them too. I can see how they usually come into power, though. A country is suffering economically and people are desperate, then someone comes along and promises to "solve everything," or they just seize power. It's very much like an abusive relationship on a large scale.

@calculsoberic indeed! For many it’s from before my time but still! I find it sooo weird that the ‘world’ is allowing such shit. I have this conflict often, I know it’s a BIG DEAL to interfere in another country but I think we need to do it more often, not for the country but for the people! We know shit is wrong but cannot or may not do anything about it.. and when I say ‘wrong’ I mean innocent people are getting killed

@stux I see.. I come from a country that was not the imperialist but the colonized and while what you propose *makes* sense I can say will only bring even more suffering.Economic sanctions will do nothing against Rusia or China, they will only create anger and tension. We have already seen this happen with Cuba and more recently North Korea. The only ones who will suffer from economic sanctions are the same "people" you wish to save.

@furtivo I think ‘removing the key figures’ alone would br as bad.. :sad_cat: Like Russia does with journalists etc

@stux @calculsoberic political concerns aside, it's really difficult to remove foreign leaders. War hurts the general population tremendously, so does sanctions. And even if you can surgically remove a leader we've seen that go horribly wrong in just the last few decades with large power vacuums. At least with revolutions, the population is behind the effort and likely to follow through on political change after the violence stops.

@rune @calculsoberic I like that one very much♥️ The downside about revolutions is the violence done by the regime to the people at that point (mostly, not always)

@stux The problem with removing key figures is that "Dead king, new king" will happen or you will end up with power vacuums and risk the possibility of military or paramilitary groups seizing power and making everything worse. Of course you can always hand pick the next king but we all saw how that turned out in the middle east.

@stux @calculsoberic absolutely. It immediately makes me think about 2011 Egypt and hearing stories of terrible outcomes for regular people just protesting. It's one of the best selling points of democracy. Even if someone doesn't consider it better at managing society it atleast guarantees smooth transitions of power. And personally I consider it much better at managing it, too.

@stux @furtivo you seeyour country has no nukes usa can drone bomb your... whatever it is you have there and they will have no repercussionif they drone strike the crab, that's an open war with a nuke country. his not just some magic sauron, the entire system is behind him and then the population. even masses are getting tired of him, but he got tavrida and a giant boost of popularity, now he got tiresome again, but if he will be killed by an enemy state he will be a dead hero
