I know many trans identifying kids in my neighborhood and all of them are wonderful kids, it breaks my heart that this is being done to them. Though now with all the propaganda shoved down kindergartners throats already, they might be bullied less, ostracized less than before. @RockTheBoat @Hollahollara I could also imagine boys looking over or under the stalls to peep at girls' bodies, what underwear they're wearing, what bathroom needs are being taken care of, etc. They will bully girls over these things. I'm having anxiety thinking about what if this happened when I was a child. Girls can bully yes but for the most part you're left alone in the bathroom. I did have a stupid boy peek at me in the girl's bathroom back in the day but again for the most part boys just didn't enter the girls' bathrooms. I was mortified.

We just didn't talk about it but we had to deal with it. This was in the days of the gauze Kotex pad with gauze strings on it and one of those horrible elastic belts you had to wear. I was an excellent student and would have never wasted time in the bathrooms like some of these punks. I had to stand up to a male teacher one time in high school for wanting to give me detention when I had to go to the bathroom at noon, between classes, and change my pad, and I was late to class. This wasn't one where you just slide into the seats. It was orchestra. You come in, stow your books on some shelves, then go into the instrument room to get your fiddle and bow out (I use fiddle generically to mean "classical string instrument", violin, viola, cello, bass) and then walk about 40 feet into the big open room that is the band hall. He asked me if I could go to the bathroom some other break, and I said no. I just said I had to go to the bathroom. I told my mother about it and she said, "He has a wife, he has a daughter. He should know about those things." So the next time I saw him, I said, "Talk to MY MOTHER about it." and he backed off. This was 50 years ago and I still hate his guts, also for some other unfair things he did. This was a huge school with about 3,500 students in four grades. The breaks between classes were only 6 minutes. No way to get to a bathroom and pee. I usually held it all day until I got home at 4:30. I had to go to the bathroom at noon and change my pad so I couldn't not go. A lot of kids get urinary problems because the teachers make them hold their pee. Preventing bathroom access is a human rights violation nowadays, from what I have read about human rights standards. But hey, it's just an American high school where the teachers want to micro-manage the kids!!

Inevitably, I developed a kidney infection. I did not know until I had crippling back pain. The doctor told me that he knew it sucked, but I had to go pee while at school, no matter how inconvenient, crowded, whatever. (My daughter was reluctant for similar reasons; many girls don’t want to make waves, even if their parents stand behind them.)As an upside, I was prescribed an antibiotic that turned my urine an exciting bold blue-green color. Sadly, I have never had this issue again, and so no more teal bathroom breaks.

And if the school administration balked, I would go to the media and tell them about it. Just about everybody has a story about a kid that pissed or shit themselves, or bled all over their clothes and a chair, or pissed or shit in the trashcan, because the teacher wouldn't let them go. I have heard of smart parents yanking their kid out of the school when they don't let them have potty breaks. That's the right thing to do.
