2/For the people who have gotten to know me in SQV, y'all know that DROP is usually not the type who looks for fawning and adulation. At the end of the day, I'm just your average joe and a small piece to what makes this country great. Last year was one of the roughest years i've had to endure. Constant 2 week quarantines, school shut downs leaving co-workers without childcare and taking days off, building capacity limits, I was working with half my staff the entire year.

3/The amount of patients grew exponentially since everyone and their mothers decided to suddenly be health conscious and see the doctor for every minor sniffle to get medications. "covid is just the sniffles" talking points aside, my workers and I risked our lives to go out there every day and maintain the health of the community. 5/At the end of the day, I took an oath to help patients and I would gladly risk my life to do so. But I wondered if we would at least get something for doing all this. Congress dangled hazard pay in our faces but every time as soon as the negotiations start, it was the first thing to go. "You should just feel lucky that you still have a job" they tell us while they shower people who sat on their asses masturbating at home with 600 dollars on top of their base unemployment check($1104/wk max)

6/Then came the summer of love where BLM rioted, looted, and destroyed my pharmacy in order to get some sick twisted justice for a drug addict felon. We petitioned our local politicians as well as cuomo and deblasio to get help to rebuild our ruined store and were completely ignored and had to rebuild from our own pockets from near scratch. a few months of hard work, elbow grease, replacing windows, restocking, etc. and we opened back up with zero help from the do nothing government.

@watch4thedrop I have more trust and respect for my local pharmacists than a lot docs out there. I even followed a pharmacist to a new pharmacy when he left his previous pharmacy...he was THAT good. They are far less apt to make mistakes than a lot of docs, as well.For these men and women to not be respected as essential first-line responders sickens me. I don't have enough room on this platform to tell the many tales I have of their never-ending battles and triumphs for their patients.

@GeorgiaMAGA Yes. I always see ads posted up asking for immunizing pharmacists to help the vaccination flow at all different types of facilities and they always get filled. We are traveling all over the place to help patients get immunized.

@watch4thedrop My doctor dentist and veterinarian went "viral" during the first part of the pandemic - my pharmacist was the only one with any medical training that held the line and answered questions. @stephanieanne @watch4thedrop Huge love. I see my sister's profession on that list. She is an EMT and will note that she can barely get any hours from a major hospital network and will be having to take a second job because they don't want to pay per diem workers and since she takes care of her grandson part of the time she can't work full time. New York expected MUCH from our essential workers and as always delivered little. I too am sad you went through what you went through here in NY. ❤️

@watch4thedrop D - I make a special point every time season hits here in SW FL to thank my pharmacists often. Until I worked for a doctor I didn't realize how much abuse the pharmees receive. Last time I was in the seriously cute Asian pharmacist (your cousin?) visibly relaxed and told me how she appreciated what I said. PSA - Smile and thank the pharmees!

@Karen99 I said I wasn't going to crap on other professions but I'll make an exception. the whole year I heard that the schools needed to be shut down since the teachers didn't want to risk getting sick. @watch4thedrop I had no idea that pharmacists were treated with such disrespect. My husband & I received our second shot last Tuesday. We are thrilled, thankful & relieved.If we could've hugged the pharmacist & his team, we would have done so. They were professional, kind, efficient & knowledgeable.I don't give a rip what anyone else thinks about my decision. @watch4thedrop Nurses love our pharmacists! They know WAY more than the doctors when it comes to medications. When I worked at hospitals I was on the phone with them anytime I questioned a med, a dose, or an interaction. In my retired life they are the first person I talk to about any medication questions. Most people don’t even understand your level of education. I believe it’s a doctorate now. You deserve so much more respect than you get!

@timr @watch4thedrop My mom and I each have had extremely bad reactions to medications that doctors/surgeons have given us. Took things getting desperate enough for my dad to finally reach out to the local pharmacist to try and figure things out. Docs were still pushing meds. Each time, the pharmacist's answer was quick and accurate.I don't even want to think about how bad things would have gotten had it not been for them.People who abuse pharmacists are SPOILED. In fact I didn't know it was a routine between pharmacist and patient when they picked up the medicine until earlier this year. My faculty associate told me about it. I am 50 years old! @watch4thedrop I worked for a group of doctors. The docs would stay after the patients all left and catch up on notes and paperwork. One day, I had to go to the pharmacy after work. The pharmacist and tech were having a problem with a script one of my docs wrote. It was definitely a problem for them and the patient. I gave the pharmacist the "back number" for the doctors' office in order to solve the problem. That'll teach the docs a little lesson for not paying closer attention! 😉

I applied when i first graduated and they bitched that i dont have any pharmacy experience. so i got a retail job and tried to apply again 5 years later and they said they frown upon people with too much experience in retail since its a whole different set of skills. 😑 i think they dont hire anyone unless you got a connect in HR lol

@watch4thedrop @2020_DJT Skylar has asthma & restrictive airway disease. She's prone to walking pneumonia which they always treat with steroids & antibiotics. I took her in last Sept for SOB. They gave her the steroids & antibiotics but she had to get a COVID test. She had no fever, no aches, no sore throat & if she had tested pos, treatment would have been the same. But she had to take the test in order to go back to school.

@watch4thedrop I would also add that not only did pharmacists help with vaccinations, they also took up the slack for doctors who stopped seeing patients in person. It’s been my pharmacist who’s made sure my BP meds didn’t run out during the lockdown..my pharmacist has been way more helpful than my doctor.

@scottgfx I wonder the same thing. Best I can guess is that he didn’t have that tell tale neck pain and perhaps went downhill? My best memory of that situation is when my Mom and stepdad kicked out a priest who was in the hospital room. My brother was athletic and a Northwestern grad but the doctors told my parents that it probably did do at least some damage. I can’t remember if it was a result of chickenpox. My memory fails me

I saw her open her store late to provide a sick child medicine, and often "on account", which she'd conveniently forget a lot of times. When I worked for her I helped patients that couldn't afford meds get matched with a manufacturers program. Anyone who needed medicine got it on her watch.
