What video editor would you recommend for someone who's quite new to this whole video editing thing? Please don't answer it it's been like a year since you tried any of them, or something like that. Thanks!#Linux #videoediting #FOSS

@forteller Kdenlive is pretty neat.On the non-FOSS but still Unix-compatible side of things there is also lightworks.

@forteller I used openshot to make a video about five months ago. It's quite bad. It is a real chore to make even a basic slide show. Its supposed to be the best. I don't think there is a foss solution for video editing available.

@lanodan Lightworks is more for pros, isn't it?

@forteller Yeah but it's quite easier to find documentation around for it as it's been there for ages.

@forteller your server blocks mine so you won't see this, but literally everything on your list crashes on me. but I settled on kdenlive.

@footjamfan @forteller yeah to me it seems closest to a professional editor on a proprietary system.

@forteller If I REALLY needed a full graphical editor, Kdenlive, however, I find the simple edits I do are easier with just command line tools where you don't see the result until it's done. Like, if I just want to combine some video clips and drop some audio over the whole thing, ffmpeg does that fine after some searching
