So I went in and out by way of the car ramps.Big signs told me I couldn't, but like everybody else in Los Angeles, I ignored the rules.Hopefully now I can stay home for a while.Yesterday was GREAT!I've been having horrendous nightmares that make me exhausted all day.Yesterday my accidentally adopted son had another unforeseen medical bill, and then the neighbor pounded on my door to bitch about non-white people.

@ThomasWic I admit to being a book hoarder, and a large number of them are textbooks. Well, medical textbooks. And novels. Hundreds and hundreds of them. E-readers have saved me though. I own thousands (and thousands) of e-books, and I have read every single one. Lately, I have been buying hard and soft cover books if I think they are going to be cancelled.

Growing up, my father use to have piles & piles of papers & books & magazines & bills & junk mail stacked in various corners of the house & on the dinner table. Every night at dinner we wld have to move stacks off the table so we could eat & then put them all back after we were done. Seems crazy looking back now. To this day, I purge constantly & refuse to have “piles” of anything in my house.

My stepfather's mother was kind of a hoarder, but it was all stuff that connected with her life which was fascinating. @ThomasWic Japan, and especially Tokyo, is notorious for "trash houses", or "rubbish houses" ; they call them "gomi yashiki" (ゴミ屋敷)。Maybe you saw some when you were in Japan ? I don't know if it's a recent thing or not - I haven't looked into that yet.Compulsive hoarding is indeed a form of OCD. When we moved to a new town in 6th grade, my Dad accidentally dropped it on the basement floor and it smashed to bits. So sad. He felt terrible. Here's one I found that is similar. It literally gave me anxiety.Not his fault - he isn't a woman & I thank God he's a man's man! But my house😭He tried, bless his heart. I rarely commented on how he "folded" fitted sheets or towels. @SwampWitch I straighten mine maybe twice a year. When it starts to look like a pack of raccoons live in it, I either take the 15 min to do what needs to be done OR I just slam the door!

@stephanieanne I kinda regret putting doors with glass inserts on that cabinet when we built. Thought it'd make the space look bigger. Maybe I'll change the doors at some point but we've been her almost 15 yrs so...prolly not.

@ThomasWic I moved to my parents' house last April after my father died in 2019. I am getting rid of stuff: clothes - Dad's and mine; my Dad collected wood (basement, garage, and backyard storage) lanterns, telephone handsets and wires, ship models (some he half-completed), bird houses, all kinds of tools, ropes, blocks and tackle/pulleys, garden implements, books. He was a supply sergeant in the USAF and was in the telephone company. Born in 1928, it makes sense. I have too much crap myself.

@ThomasWic Thomas ...Indeed it is can be a 'fools errand."Marshaled all the siblings to help clean out a brother's home, garage and yard; new flooring, appliances, layout. Even a large 'art expression' room. Although engaged in his vision of a 'sanctuary' ... it lasted 6 months.My Father always said of him -- "He's an ornament -- don't break it."We tread lightly ... ever vigilant ...will always cherish.

@ThomasWic My ex saved empty Rx bottles and the pharmacy bag they came in, notes scribbled on paper, Our 3 kids school work (ALL of it from every year), old TV’s and more. I couldn’t take it. I loved him so much, but I had to leave. Broke my heart. Life changing.
