       something concerning about this whole stallman business is the whole hero worship aspect. i read lea rowe's article on it and she explictly said 'Stallman Is Our Hero'.... what the fuck??why is hero worship so omnipresent? why stallman of all people?

       @eris @contrapak It's an easier thing to understand if you're in that mindset and actually view tech as beset from all sides by malignant corporate influence and idpol-aligned useful idiots working alongside them.  rms is the archetypal example of someone who (to public perception) is in neither of these groups and I think this accounts for the largest percentage of hero worship among people for him, more than any putative "founders effect"(disclaimer: I don't support rms but I absolutely understand why people would)
