THREADRETHINKING JOURNALISMWhere do you turn now for news and commentary? I've cut most of it off.VERY selective now. And it's all over the damned place. We have a lot of great commentary here, but it's not all, and even here few are actual journalists for most of our news.We go "out there" to hunt and drag in the kill to feast on it here. Take someone like https://sharylattkisson.com and others.Great source - and you have to go to her site. Then go to someone else's and so on, before scouring through a number of established trash heaps. The idea goes like this:Everyone has their favorite PEOPLE. Not tech giant EDITORS who act as final filterers and arbiters of what they can and can't write.

@StevenDouglas Steven, have you ever read any of Glenn Greenwalds articles on Substack? He's a democrat that was fired for not staying on the plantation with his writings. His article today is about how the media attack and ruin lives but wail and cry when there is pushback. He's worth keeping up with. IN addition to our fabulosos here. Citizen journalism is the best.

@OneRandomGuy Substack COULD - but it's not what I envision at all. This would be a PERSONALIZED AGGREGATOR that could pull from MANY different sources - including substack IF THEY FORMATTED FOR IT. So that you have your own newspaper, complete to YOUR INDIVIDUAL LIKING.

@StevenDouglas I heard Lara Logan on Glenn Beck Radio this morning talking about the Mexican Cartels. She is a great investigative journalist. I also pull up American Thinker, Liberty Unyielding, and Real Clear Politics and read the articles I choose.

@StevenDouglas Paper.li used to offer a free product but now it is paid. Every week or even daily you could put out your own newspaper based on keywords or hashtags and it was nicely formatted etc. Of course this would not work if the algorithm they use is biased against conservative keywords, but the rudimentary set up is out there. @LL

The Christopher Miller interview posted yesterday seemed quite optimistic about the next generation's ability to access and report on the real news, with the journalistic integrity most folks want.

@TearGasBreakfast Wish you could see how I envision it in practice - not just in the political context we would use it. The idea is to take the effort OUT of the process. To simplify getting what you want ROUTINELY on your desktop even more than FB, Tw, Google, etc., The reading experience would only be part of it, and only to the extent people wanted daily content in that format. And it would interact with and embed content from big tech to the extent that it could.
