He is an actually neuro-atypical person. The kind I also met at Hacker spaces. They can be very unpleasant even if they mean well. Without him, I wouldn't have been able to run my systems on free software for decades now. I have no opinion about FSF leadership because I'm not a member, and the GPL makes it possible to fork anytime you think they've gone wrong, no matter what anyone votes or signs letters for.

@Moon @lain The neurotypical view of eccentric people is they either don't try hard enough or they're a pill away from being just like everyone else. The idea that people can appear somewhat functioning, or are even brilliant at times while being incapable of doing other things others find simple is completely lost on them. "You're smart. I can figure it out, why can't you?" is a common sentiment.

@Moon @lain if there's any appropriate way to use the term ableism I'd say this is definitely it. My girlfriend is a therapist for autistic children and she 100% agrees as well.

@lain If all GNU code becomes permissive-licensed, it would harm free software. Otherwise we would just license everything under MIT license.Besides that, it's not enough to fork the code. FSF maintains source code repositories, mailing lists etc., and even those who are against RMS (https://wingolog.org/archives/2021/03/25/here-we-go-again) admit they can't simply leave FSF-maintained infrastructure.

@mrsaturday @Moon @lain In my life I never met a single person that wasn't totally fscked up in at least one area from my point of view once I get to know them well enough so I don't really believe that there exist anything remotely "neurotypical". And thus I expect them to think the same of me. So I think that in order to survive in society you absolutely have to be tolerant to such stuff, on about Jesus level. Only thing different in this regard about RMS is that he's a bit more honest about his bullshit.

There will be some speudo freedom as long as you don't infringe the CoC.

@lain I'm actually autistic and there's literally no doubt in my mind he isn't neurotypical. If you watch his interviews and read his opinions this should be blatently obvious.Also, just to interject for a moment, the opinions that I would have a problem with he's changed his mind on. I think that's the worst thing he's done.
