As chad as it would be to switch sh to dash. I always fear it breaking scripts that I myself don't write. Then having to pull my hair out for hours trouble shooting because someone used a bashism in a sh script accidentally and didn't notice as arch defaults to bash.

@duxkz This has only happened to me once but it was big. There was an Artix post-install hook that had bashisms in it and GRUB wouldn't boot properly on restart! Easy fix if you know what you're doing and Artix fixed it, but would've certainly ruined someone day.

@luke that's pretty lucky you've only had one notable hickup given when I run: $ find /usr/bin/ -type f -perm -o=r -print0 | xargs -0 gawk '/^#!.*( |[/])sh/{printf "%s\0", FILENAME} {nextfile}' | xargs -0 checashismsAs suggested on the arch-wiki for dash, I get ~170 possible bashisms. Or maybe that's just attesting to me having too many packages installed right now.

But well, it's not like Luke is used to make controversial baseless statement which plagues the community... /sFirst thing first, don't use something just because someone on the internet said so. Secondly, fish IS a shell, just not a POSIX compliant one. It's still a shell and I haven't seen anyone with a zsh configuration that works like fish. Everyone who have pretended the opposite to me have been lying.

Having watched some DT videos in the past, I fully believe he actually has fish symlinked to /bin/sh.He talked about some scripts not working for him on arch due to them having been made for POSIX/Semi-POSIX shells
