       I was wondering how I can follow hashtags on #Friendica and I did some searching. Apparentlythe #ActivityPub protocol doesn't allow hashtag following in the sense that all posts with that tag get into your timeline.Didn't find much about that on the internet Can somebody confirm this? This would explain why Friendica doesn't do it either.

       When your server has subscribed to some relay servers then subscribing to hashtags works fine.

       You can easily follow hashtags on Friendica. Click any hashtag, then you have a "+" button allowing you to follow it. Super easy. I am doing it and it works just fine. Posts appear in your timeline alongside all other posts.
