@dwaltiz signal is better if you actually care about privacy and shit - i assume this is what you mean by the racist dogwhistle in your post - but telegram is... fine, and will work way, way better at what you're setting out to do. entice them with the custom stickers.

@dwaltiz Signal was properly audited, but they don't publish server code anymore, so now it's as verifiable as Telegram's claims. Not sure about features (I'm not using Signal often), but there's some chance you might already find some of local normals on Telegram because of bigger user base.

@dwaltiz Based on public information only, Signal is the one that has 50 MUSD in the bank and claims to be running just fine on that, whereas Telegram is the one that was 700 MUSD in the red, burns 100 MUSD/year on servers and recently raised 1+ GUSD to cover the debt and near-future ops cost.Telegram is gonna sell their users or bust, guaranteed.

@dwaltiz If running the Signal network without burning through 50 MUSD in no time is a ridiculous proposition, then I suppose they must have funding that is not public.I don't know what their servers must cost, so I don't know if their claim makes sense or not.
