Quite a nice explanation.Bugman-nitpick: Might also want to explain that the block producers just like anybody else can’t give themselves 1 million bitcoin because then other nodes on the network will also ignore the block and not rebroadcast it. Hard to produce blocks, but easy to verify that the protocol rules are followed.

Just like a real bank. Which is why it's not badly talked about in the media. As for Ethereum, it's a very interesting prototype but the apps are bloated of javascript and badly distributed computer time (maybe improvable in the future). And finally, for BAT, you don't run the network, ethereum users do. And the ones owning the contract is the Brave company (nice idea of a decentralized tool son). Which resells your private browsing data (called attention tokens) to third-parties, and reward you with their ERC-20 token called BAT. Personally, i'm not very fond of commodificating batteries of humans, and reducing their will and soul to their attention. It implies you're following, passively, influencing powers by your means of browsing internet. It gridlocks your usage to a simple consumer. It transforms you into a... well... like in the Matrix: a battery.

@baguette even *if* most of bitcoin's hashrate is in china, it does *not* mean they "own the network entirely", there is very little China can do to control anything in bitcoin.
