Anyone have an opinion on Syncthing? I just installed it, and it seems like the holy grail of file sharing that I have been looking for. Before I had looked at NextCloud, and although is is awesome, the setup looked very involved, and instructions for a home server was sparse. Native app on linux didn't help.Unfortunately, there is no iOS client, which is what I wanted it for. Sending files directly to iPad is impossible without an Apple device. Fortunately, OTG with Files works well.

@rebel_luddite I found syncthing to work great on always on machines but for laptops that change WiFi and go on / off it seemed to get confused. That was a number of years ago.Sharedrop.io or file.pizza or magic wormhole or the like are good for going nearly anywhere to anywhere. VLC has a built in network file sharing feature, good for iOS devices.Self hosting NextCloud wasn’t for me but I use paid services because NextCloud is worth paying for. Good luck!

@onan Oooh. I read about VLC being able to handle basically any file format, but never investigated it.I basically use my iPad as a PDF reader.I've been eyeing some fancy ereaders from Boox and Onyx, but they are expensive, and tend to be locked down.New ones have color though!
