       I am three weeks older than my husband was when he died. This makes me feel decrepit and elderly, although my truthful answers to a friend's questions "Where were you when JFK was shot" and "What were you doing when men landed on the moon"are "I wasn't born yet."

       @cosullivan ...sorry that you feel decrepit and elderly, I get loads of satisfaction to have out-lived famous people, like Hitler, for example. I guess to compare your age against your husband's must be different. Sorry for being clumsy. We are made of the dust of stars, my dust can remember the night in Scotland when we got the news of JFK, and, weirdly, this long fading reach back into my past gives me pleasure, to feel the sense of the long and winding road. Young is not good/Old is not bad.

       @cosullivan A co-worker (many of whom are immigrants to the USA, essentially all of whom are transplants to Texas) asked my Dad how long he'd lived in the Dallas area. His answer was "since JFK was shot". Then they had to figure out when that was.
