I ALWAYS have a jar of this in my fridge. I'll eat a teaspoon of it right out of the jar just to have a good flavor in my mouth. It an insanely good sauce for a quick "Mexican" pizza. Add black olive slices, jalapenos, shredded cheddar and whatever else. It's also a more than fantastic enchilada sauce. Just slather it onto both sides of flour tortillas, fold in your fillings, sardine them into a baking pan, add more sauce, onion, shredded cheese, etc., on top, and BROIL top bubbly brown.

@ngoja I have no access to chipotle or adobo where I am. One thing most of my recipes have in common is just how "common" the ingredients are. Common staples, which are the mainstay of comfort foods which can all be routinely made by almost anyone. I've always avoided anything on the rare or eclectic side in my kitchen. Not that they're not great - just not required for full enjoyment. If I have to special order something it's off my list.

@ikarith @Terramo This may not apply to you, but early in my first marriage in the '80s I packed on a LOT of unexpected weight.Dieting made it worse. I lost fifty pounds in 90 days by OVEREATING. My rules (RELIGIOUSLY followed):No ham, no cheese. For every mass quantity of carbs or proteins, I HAD to pre-eat TWICE its mass in high water content fruits and vegetables.Flushing foods, I called them. And starchy veggies, like corn and potatoes - count as carbs. Legumes in moderation.

@ikarith @Terramo At one point toward the end of my rapid weight loss regime FROM EATING MORE - my sister confided to me that everyone was worried that I had contracted AIDS!Nope. The idea that calories consumed must be BURNED in order to leave is absolute utter bullshit. I did not exercise while under this regime. And after a month of it I lost my appetite and had to FORCE myself to eat. Great feeling not being SUBJECT to an appetite.

@EarlThePearls @ikarith @Terramo I distilled my regime from two such books: Fit For Life and Stop The Insanity. I ignored most of the hype and fluff and bold assertions and concentrated ONLY on what they BOTH agreed upon. What was left was my regime.I do the same thing with all my recipes. They're distilled from other great recipes based on what THEY ALL agree on. That's the base and the basis from where I begin tweaking.

Generations of them trying to improve on PROVEN deliciousness.Stand firmly on ALL their shoulders!I don't know by what accident nixtamalization came about (possibly thousands of years ago) - the process whereby corn is subjected to caustic elements that unleash extra flavors and vital nutrients - but I'm glad they did!Nothing to re-invent there, it's now part of science. Just follow the recipe.

@seeker @EarlThePearls @ikarith @Terramo You have to try it at least once. Get some pickling lime (calcium hydroxide) AKA Cal, or Cal Mexicana. 2 cups of any dried corn (field corn is traditional, but even popcorn works well!) 6 cups of water1/2 T Cal Stir together, boil for ten minutes, remove from heat, and let sit for 12 hours. Rinse well and rub all the dissolved pulp bits away in a colander. Delicious as-is, even without grinding. Boil more for additional softness as desired.

@StevenDouglas @EarlThePearls @ikarith @Terramo so I found something on amazon, this looks ok for me its food-grade calcium hydroxidehttps://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B071NYV2XZ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A1AA9U0IJYDST7&psc=1also dried corn is not so easy to find, mostly its advertised for aninals, but I just saw some. The sad thing is, that my area is now nearly 70% corn, but its 100% going into reactors for biogas. This is one of the few ways farmers can make money, but it degrades the humus.Oh holy climate, we worship you!

@Jaime @ikarith @Terramo Example: I was running a business in San Jose at the time, and we'd go to lunch regularly at a buffet style restaurant called "Sweet Tomatoes". Perfect for me. I'd get two plates. One for Caesar salad, one for Chinese Chicken salad. Heaping and delicious, I'd scarf both.THEN, back for a slice of pizza or a piece of steak or chicken. It's all I ever needed. Surprising how much energy is in one slice of pizza IF it's "unlocked" by flushing foods. Never hungry.

@Jaime @ikarith @Terramo Mornings:Fruit only, and not much. I'm not a morning eater, never have been. A big breakfast only puts me to sleep.I do NOT buy into breakfast being the most important meal of the day. For dinner I was doing a lot of steamed vegetables followed by steak, hamburger, TURKEY, etc., heavy protein to make me tired. I never mixed carbs and proteins equally. One has to seriously dominate because proteins need to acids to break down. Starches, more alkali.

@seeker @Terramo @chaelia @EarlThePearls @ikarith Herbivores - especially those that can live on just grass - don't suffer, to my knowledge, from Pellagra, a disease caused by niacin (vitamin B3) deficiency. So corn and "silage" alone are fine for animals. For humans it's not enough. Nixtimalization takes care of that.

@Jaime @ikarith @Terramo One or both of the books I mentioned earlier talked about how fruit is the only food that doesn't place special digestive burdens on the human body. We're natural frugivores - at least in terms of our capacity to take in fruit without giving up much in the way of extra energy to process it. They claimed that the problem is was in food cominations. Fruit essentially causes carbs to ferment and meats to putrefy. Extra work for your body to deal with.

@EarlThePearls @ikarith @Terramo Yeah, bodies come in all types for sure.8 out of my 10 siblings got fat in middle age years, none had problems in younger years. We RARELY gathered for dinner or sat around a table to eat growing up. Mom would just finish cooking, turn off the heat, and walk away. To me that was perfect. No big focus on food. We all ate what our bodies told us to eat the moment - two or three bites and out to play again.Or, sit and anaconda a giant meal. Worked for us!

@JennyL @EarlThePearls @ikarith @Terramo The love of potatoes isn't a problem. It's what you DON'T love that DOESN'T escort it efficiently through your body.GLOP is a word that I use to give people a visual. Imagine all that you eat (not drink) pureed in a blender. Is it thick and gloppy? Then you may be screwed. Now imagine it with 2X (by weight) high water content vegetables. Those aren't glop. Those are FLUSHING FOODS. They unlock the energy in the glop.GLOP NEEDS FLUSHING FOODS.

@JennyL @EarlThePearls @ikarith @Terramo I did a thread once on my forays into comedy theater. I went into to it for one reason only: I needed a regimen. Someplace where others expected me to be. And do. My self-employment was mostly sit on my ass work - so, atrophy. Not good. Had to get out and play. Tightened me right up.

@jannadale @EarlThePearls @ikarith @Terramo Scroll up. It began with a toot I wrote that started with the words:"This may not apply to you, but early in my first marriage..."
