Can anyone recommend a beer for someone that doesn't usually like the beer they've had? I just want to try things for the taste; no interest in drinking to get drunk.

@amolith Try stouts and porters. They are usually very tasty, can be chocolatey/sweet, and don't taste like your average beers. Probably stay clear of IPAs/pale ales/lagers/pilsmers because they are going to be the ones that have more of that "beer taste" side, so if you don't like most beers, you probably won't like them. Also, maybe try a saison, gueuze, or framboise if you like cidery tart stuff.

@amolith @nebunez I think the Belgians got beer pretty much right, I’d second the Saison and add Tripel. But if beer isn’t your thing, no shame in ordering a nice dry cider. I honestly prefer a good cider to beer myself.

@amolithIf you usually donʼt drink brown bear, i recommend La Trappeʼ Quadrupel. Itʼs pretty strong (around 10 V/V% alcohol), has almost no foam, and a bit sweeter that itʼs bitter. Itʼs my favourite to date.

@amolith Once in your life you should try "#Schlenkerla Eiche Doppelbock". It is a smoked beer brewed in Bamberg, Germany.https://www.schlenkerla.de/rauchbier/sorten/schlenkerlaeichee.html#Either you will love it ("Come il prosciutto!") or hate it ("tastes like ash tray"). ;-)But the season for Eiche is over, will start again end of November.

@amolith @FoloGnorri, from Wikipedia: “a distinctive smoke flavour imparted by using malted barley dried over an open flame.”Also, I recommend rice lagers for exploring beer-flavored beers. Definitely stay away from IPAs, if you’re not familiar with hop flavors.

@amolith @FoloGnorri, for more information, you’ll probably have good time staying away from beers over 50 IBU (IBU being a measurement for how bitter a beer is).
