@Siouxsie Same question as Icarus. Who do we write to? Is it worth writing to an MP? Obviously that's not House of Lords though. Where the hell does this stuff spring from? I am praying Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne is on the case with this one. @Flick that is who you contacted the other day isn't it?

@Magnesium @Siouxsie @Icarus_girl96 Yes, Baroness N can’t get on the speakers list as it was too short notice, but she put a shout out on Twitter after I contacted her and Baroness Fox is down to speak and is going to make the point. I asked if there was anything we could do and she said the only thing was to try to get press attention. Presumably, if it passes, there’s some value in contacting MPs as it will go back to the commons. I do wonder if it’s possible to find a list of which Lords are due to speak and sending them a link to the article (which is very good), but I don’t know if that info is available.

@Magnesium @Icarus_girl96 @Siouxsie I went looking, and the speakers’ list is available online: https://www.lordswhips.org.uk/speakers-lists/15032021I’m not up for writing forty emails, though: does anyone want to split the names and drop them a quick note? I can share the text I sent to Baroness N, if you’d like, but basically I think just re-wording the last three paras of Maya’s article, and saying “here’s a good article that goes into more detail: link”, would do it.

@Magnesium @Icarus_girl96 @Siouxsie An annoying number of them don’t have email addresses listed, and I can’t see a message sent to the generic address (and then, presumably, printed out and left with their post) getting to them in time to do any good. I’ve done the four physical speakers who have email addresses listed (one of whom is already on side), I guess I’ll start on the remote ones….

@Siouxsie Really interesting- the women- supporting speakers are arguing for voting down the amendment because of the addition of the word "gender", and because there is other government legislation in the pipe that deals with mysoginy.
