4/The pfizer/moderna vaccines used the mRNA technology in order to trigger your cells to create the spike proteins to trigger the immune response. The Johnson and Johnson vaccine in all intents and purposes does the exact same thing except instead of mRNA, it uses viral vectors. The potential side effects is not too far off from the mRNA brothers. muscle pain/swelling at the injection site, fever, nausea.

14/What I wouldn't do though is try to wait to see if whatever you think is the better vaccine becomes available. Like say your area only has pfizer, don't wait around until J+J get's stocked. Take whatever is available to you first. It is better to get inoculated as soon as possible than with the best vaccine possible. With the addition of their vaccine to the ones already out there by pfizer/moderna, this faux pandemic is drawing one step closer to a quicker end. @watch4thedrop What do you make of the 39 year old healthy Utah woman who died after getting the vaccine? Also, I've had several people tell me they've been laid out sick for 3 days after the vaccine and one was hospitalized for 3 days. And I didn't think any of these vaccines had been tested on people with autoimmune issues. Thanks for all your info.

@Debbie742 2. i would just be generalizing without knowing who they are, their medical records, and exactly what happened but laid out sick for 3 days and hospitalizations don't seem like it had anything to do with the vaccine. Perhaps they were in the 5% who failed to get inoculated and caught covid anyways or they got sick from something else.

@Debbie742 3. there is not much data on the current vaccines for patients with autoimmune disease but the consensus is that since people who do have those diseases have a higher risk of dying of covid, they shouldn't be recommended to not take the vaccine. It is a risk/benefit analysis and your physicians will recommend you to get vaccinated regardless of that condition.

@watch4thedrop Hmmm. I have a teen with JIA and a friend with RA. My friend's rheumatologist advised her to NOT get the vaccine yet. I think you can see why I hesitate. Lots of conflicting info. The last in Utah's liver started failing and then all her organs failed. At least that was my understanding. Her father still got his vaccine and did well. I think if we get a vaccine it will be the J&J. One person I know got it and she had mild symptoms for 12 hrs. She had COVID months ago.

@Debbie742 depending on how old your teen is, you may have to wait anyways. J+J has only been approved for 18 and over so far and the mRNA'a 16+. It will get approved for children though. I'm certain of that. The only contraindication at the moment is allergies to vaccines. liver failure can be due to many things. leaping to blaming the vaccines is something the media does to try and scare people. If you are interested, you can google this lady again in 4 months and see if there's any updates.

@watch4thedrop Yes I was waiting to hear about her autopsy. The family said she was fine, no underlying conditions. Got sick. Got a little better then went downhill rather quickly. Died 30 hours after being admitted to the hospital. They had transferred her to a hospital that does liver transplants. They were trying to get her one but couldn't stabilize her. Very sad. It will be interesting to find out what happened.

If the ME comes out and says she actually had something else going on, I'd believe that. When you have underlying health issues, and you have to choose between maybe getting COVID or taking a vaccine that will probably make you sick, you don't just jump and get it.

@watch4thedrop @Debbie742 NOT true. My friend - who besides having dermatomyositis (a VERY bad autoimmune disease) has many other risk factors (pre-diabetes, heart conditions, obesity, etc). She was told unequivocally NOT to take the "vaccine" by her board certified Reumatologist. He said it would likely kill her. She's on hydroxychloroquine as a preventative. She can't tolerate most drugs but does fine on this. It's been around for about 6 decades and is over the counter in many countries.

@Bluecharger69 depends on your state. It is a pretty abused drug in NY so there's a serious push over here to list it as a controlled substance in the state senate. Check with your state legislatures. if it's there, it's probably on some bill that they are trying to sneak under your nose while you sleep

@SailingMom728 What about other drugs? antibiotics aren't 100% effective. do you just self heal when you have an infection? what about chemotherapeutic drugs? you take the right regimen for certain cancers and you have a 25% chance to survive. Hell those vaccines you claimed to have taken earlier, many of them are not 100% effective. MMR is only 93% effective. did you skip that as well? that's less effectiveness than the pfizer vax.

@lifeDAV Since the virus is so novel, no one really knows how long natural immunity will last for. could be a month, could be 6 months, could be a year, could be forever. the medical community advises us to take it even if you've had the virus already. Better to be safe than sorry and there's nothing negative about taking it even if you already have natural immunity.

You should know the law. I'm not antivax. My kids were vaccinated in the 80's and 90's. Grandiose insistence of safety by someone with a pharmacy degree can sway lay people into dangerous decisions. Leave them to the doctor/patient relationship. You might avoid being sued. I'm not trying to be mean...just prudent.

I've advocated for myself and many others saving my own life and my friend's. 1st- a doc discontinued her antibiotics for sepsis & 2nd I diagnosed a punctured lung. The entire staff assured us her pain was from surgery. I insisted on an xray. They wanted to send her home! I have a BS in biology, 8 yrs pharmaceutical experience and found my own cure for my cancer in '93. I studied law on my own and beat 5 IRS lawyers in their own court.

We’re both 1st responders, so we were phase 2 in my state. He had chills, fever, site pain and felt sick for about 48 hrs with each shot.I just hd muscle soreness with the first one, muscle soreness and significant lymph node pain with 2nd. @watch4thedrop I have a question that my Dr doesn’t know how to answer. I am allergic to steroids, can’t take inhalers, shots, pills etc. I also have Lupus and have had anaphylaxis 6 times. Was treated with IV Benadryl and Pepcid and epinephrine. I had a stroke caused by they don’t know what two years ago. No narrow arteries, no BP problem and now I just take a full size aspirin daily. I’m alsoAllergic to almost all antibiotics, toothpaste LoL and many other substances.

@Stacie so for people with multi-drug allergy profiles like yourself, it is not recommended that you get the current vaccines without verifying with an allergist. I assume you have one with all of these allergies. Verify with them if you can handle the pfizer/moderna vaccine or if you should wait till the less anaphylactic astrazeneca gets approved.
