       It's hard to overstate just how much of a ripple this protest creates in Pakistan's intensely patriarchal society every year. It is all everyone talks about for weeks.Organizers and attendees face a ton of abuse afterwards, both online and offline. Last year, the march was pelted by stones from religious extremists who showed up to counter-protest.

       I am fortunate enough to know some of the organizers personally from having volunteered and protested alongside them. They are all incredible people and I am in awe of the fact that they keep going and manage to outdo themselves every year, with better art, bigger rallies, louder speeches, and more inclusive and radical manifestos.
