@Debradelai I have a friend who has a 40 year old mentally retarded daughter. She swears she was normal until she got her first round of vaccines. But, the girls dad had a sister and an aunt who were also mentally retarded. I'm more inclined to think genetics than a bad reaction to vaccines. Nobody ever wants to acknowledge a gene problem though. I know the whole family - most are brilliant with no social skills.

A huge spike at 0-1.Infants still at risk but today almost no one dies under 60 except by accident.

@Krissy_Caster70 Well, that is sad. I found it helps with my friend, whose son has Aspergers, because she feels like I understand. But it did take me awhile to figure it out -- first, with a sibling and then my other cousins.

@Lisa22 @Goldie35 @Debradelai @huntley Yes, indeed.When I was a kid we had many vaccines, but chickenpox, mumps, etc were routine for most kids.A teacher/coach in our little hometown had a withered leg from having polio. Sometimes he'd have a brace on with his shorts & knee socks, in the gym.He was a truly nice guy, but he died fairly young. I don't know if it was polio-related.We're blessed, today, with medical advancement beyond what our grandparents could have ever imagined!

@Lisa22 auties need family like everyone else- love, acceptance, understanding...patience.. too much of a fast pace world to take time out for my auties. When we die, they will have no one. My biggest fear is dying and leaving them alone. The only one that gives a shit is their Nana, my mother. She is 74 years old and take them to the gym twice a week and more.

@Lisa22 ha ha ha so true.. I think they do have super powers as much as it is hard being in their bodies. It's almost like they have a sixth sense and i feel they do. It's heightened.They know a fake from a mile away..

My point is that 30 yrs ago, she had a child that was a few yrs old that wasn’t having issues, but then started to have issues. She began to look for causal relationships during that time period. Her mind was made up when nobody had answers, there was no internet. Life is more than a toot, just have compassion

I don’t believe peoples minds can change overnight after going thru that. I just ask that we have some compassion for people, we have no idea what they faced for 30 yrs or face every single day. @Lisa22 @AllForHim @Goldie35 @Debradelai @huntley I also remember seeing "Thalidomide babies" - not infectious, of course, but that was an absolute tragedy of epic proportions!They were adults by the time I was old enough for it to register.Flippers in place of arms utterly horrified me, as a child.Nowadays we don't routinely see cross-eyed kids, as when I was little. It's a simple fix now & so we always fix it, thank goodness.Also, Red measles, German measles.Times have changed!🌞

@Lisa22 Very hard to have a casual relationship with a NT when neurologically it effects your ability to communicate and relate to others. One of my sons prefers social relationships parallel and by observing then GTFO i want to be alone. My others son wants to be with people and boss us around, joke, laugh, and doesn't always mind communicating with us. My understanding is that it’s a neurological condition with a possible genetic component.This EI program was wonderful. I thought about it often during the COVID debacle in our school systems. I’m guessing it was all put on hold. Terrible!

@MaureenQueen Depends on what type of spectrum disorder one is talking about. No one blamed mmr or others for Aspies dx's. You had PDD, PDD-Nos.. @rarity Hard to tell if it was put on hold because some area agencies did allow for DSP to go into our homes. All depended who was comfortable to do so. Behavior is communication. I think genetic component yes. We had genetics testing at Boston Childrens. They are still figuring it out. @HowFromCT yup, i very much remember that and i had to really think. With my second born, i spread out his vaccinations where he wasn't getting several at one time. He still had autism. It made sense to me that it was genetics.
