as soon as i eat, i’m shutting down and taking apart parts of the iBook clamshell, in a gambit to change the bus clock speed and, consequently, the CPU clock speedi’ll need fingers crossed

the goal is to move it up one step, meaning the G3/466 would be overclocked to 533MHzand while i’m in there, a fresh application of thermal paste

update:tinted the cpu and memory controller (grey) and i've removed the R63 jumper and will use pencil graphite to connect R62 to bump from a 66mhz bus clock to a 82.5mhz clock, which should move the 466mhz cpu to 577mhz

final update (for now):i got to open firmware but then it frozepower-on self-test (the bong sound) still works but then it just hangs, which means one of two things:1) the graphite jumper worked, until it didn’tor2) the overclocking one step up is not tenablebut to know the answer, i’ll need wait for another time when i can set aside a few hours to disassemble the whole thing again and run graphite back to R63 (as it was originally)i’m not panicking at all… i’ll figure it out

one more quick update:after showering, i powered it on and it began the usual boot process and then froze,so it’s a chip/board which can’t handle higher clock speeds, darn

i’m going to be using the graphite pencil method, as discussed here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/fastest-flash-and-using-a-pencil-to-overclock.1973903/
