IT Support protip: Instead of asking the user, "did you open a ticket?" ask them "alright, what's your ticket number?" This gives the impression that you trust them to have opened a ticket, but the message will dig-in a little deeper when they realize "oh shit, I did not meet XYZ expectation for IT support"

@brandon@fosstodon.org this but front line customer service: "sure what's your order number?" and very quickly repeat customers will just lead with it ^_^

@purple Unfortunately that ends up frustrating the user when they then call a support line where they have a script to follow and get lambasted if they deviate.I called UPS support once and led with my tracking number, and then they followed up with "Yes, thank you sir, can I got your tracking number please?"
