Americans are so completely insane now that they will look you in the eye and say that the only possible reason the US and Switzerland are rich is because constantly bombing other nations leads to wealth.

Unfortunately, the US isn't wealthy anymore, and if it stays on the road it's on, it's going to be destitute. People think it can't happen because it hasn't happened, but in a sense it already has: In the 1970s stagflation required interest rates that looked like credit card interest rates. Back then the country was responsible enough that they had the buffer to deal with that shock. If Rates went to 20% today, then debt maintenance would cost more than the current entire federal budget.Oh by the way, guess what we've been doing? The central bank has been printing money at unprecedented rates to "stimulate growth". Basic macroeconomics tells us what happens next, inflation is going to rise at unprecedented rates, and eventually that's going to require unprecedented deflation of the money supply. That moment hasn't happened yet, but it's inevitable. Just a matter of when. All that being said, Sweden, the US, and Switzerland all have in common the fact that they didn't get involved with World War 2 much. America joined but was on the other side of the ocean and only dealt with 2 incursions into home soil, and both Switzerland and Sweden were neutral.
