       We had a cold snap in 2011. Not as bad as this one, but it caused power outages and tons of road accidents and Abbott was governor then and a host of reforms were promised. Nothing happened. That's why we got smashed so badly by these winter storms.Voters are going to have to pay attention this time to make sure actual changes are made, EXPENSIVE changes, changes that cost $$$.

       @drawandstrike With the way oil prices are going up, and despite Bidne's attack on oil and gas with the pipeline and hold on any leases, at least the state's tax coffers should be growing again with the state's share of oil and gas revenue. Maybe a new Governor, more in the mold of DeSantis or Noem, would help.

       @drawandstrike Abbott didn’t become Governor until 2015.  And from what I heard this morning on OANN the TX grid is managed and maintained by a private entity (ERCOT) whose CEO’s live out of state (one lives in Germany, fer cryin’ out loud).  Abbott is launching an investigation into ERCOT.

       @drawandstrike This cold snap reminds me of the ones in the 70's and 80's Not usually traveling as far south or as intense, But you got them in Oklahoma and North Texas nearly every year.

       @drawandstrike I lived in TX 48 years. Hurricanes take out more power overall for a much longer time period. Lost a house in Rockport in Harvey. Happen more than freezes. Underground wiring probably best to use $$ for.
