Since there's a lot of music being posted, here's one of the greatest bass solos I've ever heard.By Geddy Lee of Rush, not one of my favorite bands.Tone, notes, dynamics, and duration are perfect. He uses a unique one-fingered technique that produces an attack similar to thumb slapping but is far more versatile.I always wanted to play like this. @ThomasWic I loved going to the small venues in my neighborhood in Broadripple, IN. We would head down to Bloomington to The Bluebird to see local artists. One guitarist that stood out was PK Lavengood. He left in 1989 to join John Eddie. I left in ‘89 to move to SF.https://youtu.be/iq-Ybt80dHQ

@ThomasWic I basically taught myself how to play bass. The only things shown to me were reading music and "If I ever find you playing with a pick, I will hunt you down and break your fingers!" That being said, I always lead off with my middle finger which I learned 10 years after was wrong. I didn't change though. Also did solos which, I thought were a waste, and got stupid with them. Using mallets, beer/whiskey bottle slides, fretting with the stage monitors. Fun stuff!

@ThomasWic I was wondering when you were going to bring up Geddy Lee's style. Lo and behold! My husband loves Rush. While I'm not crazy avout Geddy's singing style, it did grow on me. All three band members exceptional in their own way. End of an era with the death of Neil Pert. ☹️
