@mrmcmayhem CO should be minimal if they can burn freely, humans have been using candles for thousands of years. The biggest risk is setting your curtains on fire

@Sabex why do you need the clay pot? Not like it adds energy to the room...

@marktwo It's a radiator, and will also retain a bit of heat. The heat from the candles alone will rise into the air and heat your ceiling. The clay pot will radiate heat locally.

@Sabex I've tried that. Didn't work at all for me with those small candles. You really need a bigger flame. I finally found a few of those cheep unscented candles at a 1$ store that get really hot and then the clay gets warm enough to radiate the heat out. Is it a good tip to keep the heating bill low? Nope. Not at all. Good enough to heat a small room when there is no power? Yup! But I do advise knowing/experimenting ahead of time.

@StackKorora the colder it gets, the more heat you'd need to generate too. Scaling it up would make sense

@StackKorora actually I wonder if an alcohol or hobo stove would work better 🤔Slightly more dangerous though.

@Sabex The idea is great because most of the time the candle heat goes straight up and dissipates. The clay captures most of the heat and radiates it out instead. But the tea candles I first tried just didn't get the clay hot enough. And a lot of the scented candles burn low and slow to diffuse as much into the air as they can. I didn't try an alcohol or cooking flame, but I don't see why they wouldn't work. Just need to get the clay hot.
