@mur2501 Nah, people thing that because I give liberals shit for how they act... thing is in terms of policy and principles I agree with the liberal stance a bit more than the conservative stance. I just happen to despise the way the liberals **behave** (exaggerations, lieing, manipulating , arguing complete fantasies). The spectrum doesnt account for how much you like the people on one side or the other, it only measures your values.

@pants And yes, we seem to mostly disagree on markets.. keep in mind I do not support free markets in their extreme. I feel there needs to be some regulation, but I would say that regulation needs to be minimized for the most part. You wont find me on the extreme end on any issue but you will often find me leaning to one side or another and when it comes to markets i lean fairly heavily towards free markets over highly regulated ones.@Faket

@Faket the thing about reform is that its a compromize with everyone, and it can only do as well as the people are educated to know what works or how to test for what works.Radicalism might give you faster results but you now have the decisions being made by a few radical individuals, this can work great if they are highly educated and know how to test if their outcomes are correct and not particularly biased, but that is never the case. Radicalism goes hand in hand with extreme biases and of course they **think** they know better than everyone else but rarely do.. So it may have quick results but those results tend to be disasterous.@pants

We said no to the fifth week of holidays, we said yes to the purchase of new army planes which will be useless (all the ones we have now are already useless), we can say yes to the ban on the wearing of veils for women. No, I don't think we should just ask people.I think that something like citizens' conventions is a much more valid decision-making process.@pants

@freemo @Faket in general i like to move slowly and methodically- the old 'what do we want?' 'evidence-based conclusions' 'when do we want them?' 'after peer review.' but with things like police and energy reform, i think that same evidence tells us those things need to happen much faster than reformism would allow, so i'm at a loss there.

@Faket democracy in any reasonable form is fine, its reasonable and it works.. everyone is so focused on the system and that isnt the problem, never has been.. the problem is that the system is determined by the people, and the people arent well informed on what works and what doesnt, nor are they objective enough to see it when their wrong... democracy can only work when you have the right people driving it.The solution to our problems can only come by changing the way people think and approach social problems, which isnt the direction we are headed.

@pants reformism is only slow when the people are undecided/split.. if everyone agrees strongly about what needs to be done it can happen extremely fast... Thing isI dont have faith in the people to make the right decisions so when they do all agree, which is rare, it usually isnt about the correct things anyway., nor are they willing to really put their ideas up to the test and change them if they dont pan out.. it tends to be more dogmatic.@Faket

@Faket IIRc you used anarchism to refer to libertarianism (power focused on local governments rather than federal governments)... presuming that is what you mean then I tend to agree that it tends to be more resilliant to people who make poor choices as voters... all the smart lucradive people will live in the same region and have the most wealth and advantage, all the people who make poor voting decisions will not be allowed into those communities and exiled to poorer communities of their own making. So at least it lets people find the group of people that vote like them and live in a community that mirrors their decisions.@pants

@pants What i said wasnt intended to troll anyone. When i say educated i dont mean schooling per say, I mean more abstractly that they have the intellectual ability to decide what is best for society, that requires a deep level of understanding and an ability to see past your biases that most people dont have and most dont have the technical skill to know how to run the numbers and see if their biases are helping or hurting either.I do agree fear is the cornerstone of our current society, but it has nothing to do with capitalism, nor does capitalism have a "late-stage", its the default its been around since time began pretty much.. but the fear is a real issue even if it isnt really capitalism that is causing it.@Faket

@Faket Well no, not at all... For starters just because the government doesnt force a company to give leave in no way implies a company cant grant leave on their own. A company can (and often does in the USA) provide leave as an incentive for employees to work there, its a perk and people who intend to have kids will often pick a job that offers that perk. With that said your assuming they have to have a kid at all.. if someone is struggling financially and cant afford to take 2 weeks off to take care of your kid, then you are in no position to have one in the first place and should not be producing babies until you get your finances in order. Even then the world is far too overpopulated, even if you can afford to have a kid you probably shouldnt, and we certainly shouldnt be encouraging people to have kids by giving them incentives codified into law.@pants

@Faket The only people who vote for what they see and hear are the people i described earlier, people who are not well educated critical voters.. If you have people voting for shit just because they heard about it on TV then your problem is **not** the rich party buying ads, its your general population that are so conformist that they will support whatever they hear the most.. it means your problem is a social one and its the behaviors of your population that needs to change so they **dont** just vote for what they see and hear.

@Faket By the way educated is not the right term here.. perhaps scholarly or logical is more appropriate... basically i mean people who make the docisions and decide what ideas they support based on a conscious effort to counter their own biases and review evidence objectively... it is a trait that used to be more common but is fairly sparse these days.

@pants I never said I supported libertarianism in that sense. I did point out it solves the problem of people who vote for destructive policies because those communities fail and are isolated from the communities of people who vote for the more effective policies. So it is a solution for that problem. But it doesnt mean I support it as the ultimate solution or a system of government we should use. There are other problems (like the one you just pointed out of the suffering poor who created their own hell but are in hell all the same) that it doesnt really address very well.As I said early on i dont support any extreme. I am libertarian leaning (in that i think governments should be a bit closer to the structure of power being focused more on the local level than federal), but i also believe in some level of federal intervention to make it all work as well.@Faket

@freemoIt’s curious 🧐... I don’t feel like communist, or socialist. I feel more like center right. 🤷♂️Although I recognize that an idea to solve problems it’s ones of those exposed on #Zeitgeist( use capitalism and technology and science to make the change to a better world)

@Xoktz all three tests seem to lean towards communism..so perhaps you dont have as accurate a perception of your stance as you think?

@freemo I agree. The Main problem is: I’m Venezuelan. Socialism and communism destroyed my land and I’m very resentful about that, and that’s why I see those with bad eyes. But I do believe in a better world, ...contradictories feelings!

@freemo I do believe that capitalism have to advance, and I think it’s the only solution, but it have to be slowly so we can have thousands of years of wellness

@freemoI don't think this is a great test because my opinions about how governments should act and how private individuals should act are completely opposite, and it doesn't take it into account. Like the question about religious schools. I send my kids to religious school and I think it is very important. I don't think that government schools should be teaching any type of religion or even influencing morals of children. @mur2501

@yisraeldov That just means you would take the test twice and have two different points on the compass, one point represents the ideology you want your government to have, the other represents the ideology you want citizens to have.@mur2501

@AmpBenzScientist For what its worth while I dont think i know you well enough to judge, the parts I can say i have an opinion on seem to track with the values youve demonstrated.... some areas though i dont really know your opinions on per se.

@AmpBenzScientist You being really high on the "regulation" scale and me being very low certainly tracks with much of what we discuss and is really the central theme for most of it.

@freemo Took these again for shits and gigs. It reminded me why I dislike quizzes like this, the questions always kinda suck Or are like "um, what?"and I always wish there were more choices. A lot of them I'm like "um, let the individual/the market decide that, not me." lolAnd I remember one time I took a strictly leftist-oriented one for shits and gigs too. It said "utopian socialist" but when you looked at the graphs it was basically "Fuck the environment, build a shitload of factories."
