@Debradelai @ThomasWic I was a young teenager when I saw Brother Theodore on Letterman. At that age I wasn't quite sure what to make of him. Many years later I researched him and learned his history. Made a lot more sense.

@Debradelai @ThomasWic I lived in the Village from around '77 to '89, then moved upstate. I kept my Jane St. apartment for a few years so I'd have a place where I could use the bathroom when I went into the city, lol. The Village became way too "Hollywood" so I sold and never really missed it.But I saw Brother Theodore there too in the early '80s I think. He was a fixture then. Very entertaining!

@StarLasswell @ThomasWic I lived on Broadway at Franklin while attending NYU. The Village was my playground.Then, rented out the loft and moved to Carnegie Hill. (94 @ 5th.)You are right. It dead. While a few places survive (La Lantarna di Vittorio), the rest is gone to shit. To see The Village Corner turned into a Starbucks, The Surf Maid into a fuching Chinese to go and Chimley's with street access is heart wrenching.The last time I went there was 2006, just to bury the corpse.

Monmouth for my crypto school.New York - Asbury Park Transit Authority from the front gate to the Port Authority I think at Penn Station.Downstairs to the E-Train to Jackson Heights.Q-33 bus to LaGuardia to go home for the weekend on Military Standby.Hearing and seeing the horror stories of Jackson Heights as of late, why would I even want to?Been there, done that.

@Debradelai Chumley's. Had a few late nights there! Street access now? - Boo!I just read that Village Cigars on 7th & Christopher is closing.The Village used to be interesting, vital. Now it's just like any other over priced neighborhood - all the same, soulless. My 26 year old daughter just moved to place a couple of blocks from Washington Sq.
