@HectorHeathcote @Darngood never eaten coon either. first squirrel I shot when but a lad .. I was too squeamish to skin it.so my dear grandma took it from me, and in less than 30 seconds had it skinned and gutted. put me to shame, she did.

@JoAnn_G I did too, JoAnn, and always ate steak well done because my father did. When I met my 1st husband (late) he took me out to dinner and I ordered a steak well done. He just looked at me and said "no. Just no." His dad was a fairly well known food critic and he told me to trust him and go medium rare. He would not let me ask for ketchup until I tasted it. @HectorHeathcote I had to teach the current hubby the same thing... he ordered steak well done too. I introduced him to the real thing, and he has been as I was for the lesson. 1. @JoAnn_G Here's the other thing that gets me about eating raw oysters... By eating them I am killing them, and I just can't do it. It's the same reason I won't eat scallops raw in the shell at a japanese restaurant. It's why I won't cook fresh lobsters, either. When I was in grad school, I was a teaching assistant for biology and Anatomy and Physiology. @JoAnn_G when I was an undergrad, I got a job in a lab, and on the first day, I had to kill a rat by cutting its throat. I was so horrified that I ran out of the lab and threw up. I had nightmares for months, years even. I refused to do it again and was eventually fired. 3. I can't kill. To my surprise, they accepted me into the program anyway. (It was a masters in biology and the teaching fellowship paid me a stipend and I got free tuition.) Eventually, when I went to med school, they also let me refuse to participate in the dog lab (basically anesthetizing dogs, then experimenting on them with various drugs.)
