@Debradelai Oh she is. I know her day is coming up fast, she’s still pretty healthy though. She would run trails with me, being way up ahead of us. 2 years ago I had to stop taking her and she still howls the entire time I’m gone 😢

@agensb Well, the town already told me I can't have them here. So now I'm renting a pasture.Their hoofs were in some sorry ass shape. My wife goes to see them every day to treat them. They are gentle as dogs.Useless for riding, though...

@Debradelai The race horse had HORRIBLE feet. No Goff wall at all hardly. My farrier said he would never have good feet and I said “hold my beer” lol. I have him on Nu-Image and Tri-Amino by Uckele. The farrier was shocked...he’s got great paws now! Neither of those supplements break the bank...

@Debradelai @agensb Horses are my favorite animal.These look wonderful.When i lived east of Atlanta I volunteered for the Ga state equine rescue center.We rotated weekends feeding and doing chores around the barns. Some were in really poor shape.Many recovered beautifully!

@Debradelai @agensb That is so good...I just rescued a baby duckling who survived the cold water all night long. The mother abandoned it. Sometimes humans can learn a great deal about the will of life that an animal has. This duckling had the strong will to fight for its life. I brought it to Bushes Wildlife in Jupiter FL. They are wonderful.

@Debradelai Somehow I missed these posts...I do have a jar of that but it made Manny’s wall to soft. My farrier is real against using stuff like this but I did anyway and my riding buddy down the road who also uses him uses it all summer. Swears by it. We just don’t tell Dan 😂😂. I don’t agree with some of what he says ..he also said supplements wouldn’t help hooves and I proved him wrong on that note. He’s awesome tho- best farrier I’ve ever had. I also won’t feed alfalfa,bad for horses

@agensb @Debradelai My farrier would take a small Dremel tool and clean out the crack very well, then fill it with epoxy just prior to trimming and shoeing. Putting front shoes on that horse we'll keep the compression from splitting the hoof wall farther.

My aunt had the Morgan's, but I was only on them twice in my life. She lived quite a way up North and we didn't visit much, Dad was always working. She passed when I was fairly young.

First thing I did when I got Manny back was get him OFF the crack of dawn feeding schedule!😂😂 He was so distrustful I’d have to toss his food and skedaddle or get bitten or kicked. I just sat on a bucket talking to him moving closer in the first couple months. I hiked him for 2 years before I rode him again. Just wanted his trust fully back in me. I went off topic oops! @agensb Ahh.. the joys of retraining a race horse. Ace was a four year old that came off the track as well, and all he knew was 📯 RUN! 🤣. His two main vices were, he wouldn't stand still, so he made it difficult to tack up. The other was, he was very light in the front end, and liked to rear.😳.. time to break out the Martingale. 6 months twice a day in the riding ring, walk, walk, walk, and More Walk. Eventually I was able to spill into a trot, and later develop his cantor.@Debradelai

@KenLarkin @Debradelai I never had the option of an arena...I still wish I did. I’ve had horses all my life aside from 20 years, and I’ve never owned a trailer. I’ve never really needed one but after I finally get him paid off, it’s a must to ride on the beach. AND to an arena to work on him. He still crow hops and gets snarky when I gallop. I never ever again want to hit the ground at 20-25 off a 16 1/2 hand horse 😳😳😳

@Tabupa @agensb @Debradelai Wow, small world, you must be pretty close if you ride the battlefield regularly. I was one of the managers at Artillery Ridge Campground until it changed hands. As you may know, that is where the national riding stable is. I have ridden the battlefield many times. It's beautiful out there among all the history, and anyone who rides should take the time and experience it. Here's the owner Jim kralick, one day we happen to be out and about. Too much fun!😁

@Debradelai Useless for riding but still serve a useful purpose for an unmounted program. @Debradelai @agensb Your chestnut in front reminds me of another we also saved from The Meat Man.A thoroughbred of great lines, Larry Pickering ended up training/racing her 'for us' but then an injury cut that short and the battle to get her back began. He was desperate to keep her as a brood mare ... and I'll leave that story there because only people who knew Larry would believe the rest of it.

@Elaines2cents He has been in the unmounted program for at least 6 months. The unmounted program is 5 years old. And, he was driving (cart with horse) with his instructor for about two years before that. He cannot be alone in the cart so they are social distancing this way. He has been at this stable since he was 4 years old and is now 22 !!!@Debradelai @agensb

@stephanieanne 😖😖😖 people with that mentality have no business around horses. The best thing for a youngster is enrollment in the Pony Club, along with good instruction, on an honest horse, and that's what we would tell them. However, as you know, some people won't take sound advice. To those, we sent down the road. Beside that, by the time you spend the money to train a racehorse you paid $500 for, that you may or may not trust, you can buy an excellent finished animal for around 5 grand.

@agensb @Linda_Dianne What? Fuzzy doesn't like tunnels?Lions and tigers and bears oh my!I once rode a horse that didn't like overhead canopies, freakazoid! I had to get off and walk him through while constantly reassuring him there weren't any predators. When he could see the opening on the other side, I remounted him, after that he was fine. It's been my experience, a horse will defer to the rider for the courage necessary to succeed, and horses know when you're not enjoying the ride.
