Sullivan is supposedly retiring now to give Biden a chance to fill his seat. I'm not so sure that's the real reason.

@drawandstrike Unfortunately taking senior status doesn't mean they will be gone from the Court. It just means that they do not take a regular "draw" of cases. Their staff is reduced but can still get assigned cases. We had a judge (Hon. Joseph P. Kinneary) who took senior status and heard cases another 20+ years..until right before he died. He was 92 or 93! He became a real problem because he suffered from senility from 80's on but no one had the nerve to get him removed.

@drawandstrike Sullivan was also over Hillary's email case. There is still a special counsel active last time I checked as well. That hasn't gone away...
