I know what you are telling yourself: They can't possibly be this stupid. They'd take a show trial, a political stunt most people would barely pay attention to and turn it into MUST SEE TELEVISION.Trump's big public return to testify under oath at a Senate trial, you couldn't craft better must-see-TV.

@drawandstrike Big mistake if President Trump were to accede to the Democrats' request for in-person (particularly sworn) testimony. They don't have any enforceable subpoena power for this, and it gives them the "TRUMP ON TRIAL" optics they want.

@drawandstrike The letter doesn’t say they’re “demanding” it says they’re “requesting.” Only pointing this out bc at the 1st impeachment ppl were swearing Trump would take the stand. I was the only one saying no way bc I know one of his million (lol) NYC lawyers who said he HATES testifying & if he’s told he should take the stand he’d be very angry at his attorneys for suggesting it. He felt he was paying them a lot of money to win the case w/out his testimony. But as Trump says, we’ll see.

The legal eagles will immediately say Trump's lawyers will shield him from any testimony whatsoever. He won't appear, and he certainly won't testify. We'll see what happens.
